I've recently downloaded some items for the Sims 2 and I've put them in the right folder, extracted them, and for the files that you double click to install (sorry, forgot the name :P), I've done that too. Except for those ones, nothing is showing up, and I don't know why... a little help, please? (and i've got custom content enabled, too) Thanks :)

Were they .package files? If so, they don't need to be installed. They are the installed files.

okay, i managed to get all my .sims2pack files working, and they're all appearing in my game. But all the .package files a have sitting in my downloads folder aren't showing up. I was wonderring, scince i have nightlife, do i need to subdivide my dowloads folder to have them all show? or can i just leave it for now?

I've ran through the checklist, I know that .package files don't need to be installed like the sim ones, but it doesn't work anyway. What did I do in my past life to deserve this? *rolleyes*

Thanks for your help, anyway :)

Is your downloads folder named "Downloads"?

If they are genetics, sims or clothes, put them in your saved sims folder. for the rest of the items, move the entire downloads folder to the desktop, run the game, then put the items in the newly generated Downloads folder.

If one isn't generated, install something using Maxis' Content Installer, then run the game.

Did you run through the FAQs I linked to earlier, and follow the advice in this thread?

Do you have to download the CEP?

simsample

The CEP is needed to enable recolours of Maxis objects.... it's all in the FAQs.

I am having the same problem.. it is a .package file in my downloads but will not appear in the game, this is only for Objects, such as decorative wall hangings. My clothes, hair, etc appears in the game but not the objects. Am I missing a step? Please help

For those here that are still having problems, PLEASE make sure you run through those two threads that simsample linked to and follow every word. 99% of the time the problem is something listed there, or a tiny detail you might have gotten wrong.

If all else fails, another trick that can also work in getting your objects to work... Create a new folder on your desktop. Call it whatever you want ("temp" will do). Open your Downloads folder. Select everything. Cut and paste it into the folder on your desktop. Delete the now-empty Downloads folder. Run Body Shop. It will generate a new Downloads folder. Close Body Shop. Cut and paste everything from that temporary folder into the new Downloads folder. Try the game.

Okay, I have this problem as well, but only some of my downloaded items are not showing up. I don't have either of the expansion packs, I made sure I have the meshes, and I went through all the suggestions above and these few items still don't show up. The items that refuse to appear are one set of clothes and a hair style (mesh and one recolour), and a bunch of posters.

Run through everything in the FAQs and that was said on this thread again. One of these things will solve your problem, you just have to try them all. All I can do is to tell you what I've already said in this thread, and I'm getting fed up of repeating myself!

If you're having trouble with particular items, but other items of the same type are working okay, it may actually be a problem with those items. Check where you got them originally and see if others have had the same problem.

Put them in the saved sims folder, and try again. If they consistently show up in Bodyshop but not in game, it could be that the creator has uploaded the wrong files- go to the thread you got them from and check the comments to see if other people have had this trouble.
