Graphical corruption and freeze on CAS loading screen

Whenever I launch either Create a Student or Create a Sim my game will freeze, with graphical corruption (as illustrated in the picture below). I have cleared my downloads, and i have never used a custom CAS background nor have I applied a non-official patch. I am running only the University expansion. I have no such problem with Body Shop.

have you tried deleting "groupcache" in -
C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2

also go into the "thumbnails" folder there and delete the 5 files in there, (the game recreates these files everytime you play the game)

I'd recommend trying some different graphics drivers:

Updated drivers only last week- And I've had CAS work on this PC before.

If this has only happened since you updated the drivers, then try rolling back to your previous drivers. The new ones aren't always the best! If you'd prefer to stick with the newest drivers you could run a program to clean out the old drivers- this often helps.
