Hey, if you leave the site, and then try to go back here by typing in www.modthesims2.com it will not work. However, typing in www.modyourllama2.com will get you here without that re-direct stuff. Thank goodness for April fool's jokes! :D

Actually, I think the DNS registration vultures are just being greedy. :wtf: The NAME should go along with the price paid to host the site.

I was in the middle of writing a message and got redirected. The bad thing about the DNS hijacking is if a NON-MTS2 member decides to 'buy' the name, they could put up some other kind of site, OR, start charging higher prices for the name.. very bad. Unfortunately, that IS being done on the internet.

I was ready to get my credit card out and renew the domain for a month before a non-member grabbed it. (I had work to do here. lol) BUT, the renew page wouldn't open. I think LyricLee must have been in there stomping on the greedy guys. YAY LyricLee! Those hoofs are good for something! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

I don't think the log-in cookies are working properly.

I can log-in to the main page on http://www.modyourllama2.com,
but when going to another page, say the downloads page; it acts
as though I am not logged-in...this could be why people are not
seeing thumbnails, as MTS2 does not allow guest to download or view
thumbnails.

LyricLee...you should take a look at the log-in cookies, this could or
will solve alot of problems (as for the expired domain stuff, don't know it is beyond my expertise).

I tried to open the Dotster site but it just hangs. I don't know what you've tried so far, but neither the dotster.com nor their IP, 64.85.73.21 will get to their site.

Probably some guy tripped over their network cable and brought their registration server down. Or, they had a power failure with no UPS backup. I haven't found their phone number yet. Of course, email to their webmaster won't help since their site is down.

Oh... I'm and IT support tech in my day job.

Yep. BOTH their servers are down. Must be a problem with their network connection. We can have fun guessing what happened - spilt coffee on their server... I can go on.....

Guys if its a re-delegation issue (which it seems it might be), it'll be 12-24hrs before the DNS propogates to a new server/entry.

Don't jump on the admins too much here, they do a great job keeping this place up and running :) ..

Just be grateful we have such an awesome Sims2 Community here.

Some pages you can get to by putting a www. prefix in front of them, but others (like files) which are a sub-domain, you'll need to wait it out.

Don't fret its only a short outage :) ... I dare say it'll be fixed soon.

I cannot tell you enough how glad I am to see that this site has not died.

Like a few people have said, when I went to visit, I got the "expired domain name" page. My mouth dropped open and all I could say was "OMG, no!"

The only thing I could think of at the time was remembering that there was a donation drive... needless to say, two and two went together and I almost cried. LOL

I tried several ways to get around the issue until I remembered modyourllama2.com. LOL

I am greatly relieved to find out that it is simply a server issue and not a MTS2 headstone. :lovestruc

all I can say is I am so relieved.... been trying all day and keep getting redirected. I was going into withdrawals... I came after April 1st, so i didn't know the modyourllama addy. I have been going through my downloads searching for a link to anywhere that might have some news then I found this link mentioned on the Sims2 site.

My computer didn't redirect me when i typed www.modthesims2.com. Instead, it said it could not be found. So i went to the Sims 2 official site and looked at the message board. It said something about modyourllama2.com so i went there and here I am now. I'm just glad now that i can get into the site. :)

I am having a problem that doesn’t seem to be covered here. I can log in and do downloads, but when I try to go to the forum. I tells me to login again, and when I try. I says invalid login/password. So I give in my Email address and its not recognized. I checked my Email in my profile to make sure that it is correct and try again. Same thing.

So I try the webmaster at [email protected] and get Recipient: <[email protected]>

Don't worry Datura :) you're not a fool. I think it was said earlier (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that it's a regional problem. I think if this is the case, they're having to fix it region by region. So it might be fixed in some but not others... yet. ;)

For instance, here in the UK, I can access Mod The Sims 2 and Mod Your Llama 2, but both of them log me out if I load a new page or try to download something. So I don't know that you or I are fixed at the moment - either that or we're both having problems by coincidence. :lol:

Anyway, hope that helps you out. :)

I must admit - my sister nearly had a heart attack...due to my squeak of dismay when I couldn't open MTS2! I'm just so glad that everything seems to be working again. Hopefully, whatever the problem behind-the-scenes was, it's fixed now and MTS2 won't be down again. Luckily I was occupied all yesterday afternoon (after I had discovered MTS2 was down) and wasn't able to access the internet anyway, so I didn't have any more hissy-fits! This morning was such a relief!
Thanks to the Moderators who beat the problem into submission and for letting us know that they were aware of the issue. Well done to everyone for your patience!

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

I think I've suffered from heart failure. I saw the same screen everybody else did. I was really worried about the fund-raiser as well and I realized something. My entire Sim-life addiction is centered around ModTheSims2.com. I come here virtually everyday, to check on things, see the new downloads, find responses to my posts, etc. I realized also that I wouldn't mind donating money to help keep this site up and running. I'm curious as to how much is feasible and how to go about doing so. Please note that I don't usually donate to any Sims2 site because I don't feel that anything such as a pc game should allow others to make money from it, excet the people who created it themselves. Now I'm willing, more than willing, to donate just to keep this fantastic site open. Anybody else, hear what I'm saying? Thanks for such a quick reaction from the mods, I'm glad it was only down for a day and not a week or longer; I do believe I would have been lost. Once again thanks to all of the mods who worked to solve this problem so quickly. I know that I am one fan who will keep coming back if you'll let me!

ps - The domain name seems to be working for me. modthesims2.com. I didn't know about modyourllama.com, or else I had forgotten about it until now. If this domain hadn't worked, I would have had no way of knowing where to go to find out about what was happening here.
