View Full Version : Download Keywords / Tagging

Delphy

Hi All,

A new (well, actually, I wrote the system ages ago, just never put it on the main servers) way of including your downloads in search results, as well as specifying "extra" keywords for your items has been introduced here on MTS2.

Creators can now add keywords to thier threads, which can then be used in the advanced search, and later on for making "collections" of similarly tagged items (for example, one use would be to display all threads which are tagged as "medieval")

You can find this new feature in the "Edit" option underneath the download post - it's the "Search Keywords" field.

Any questions/comments, let me know.

Regards
Delphy

awesome. Is there a way for creators to edit their previous uploads to include keywords?

I need to tag som of my threads soon :)

Sparadise: Just checked out your post. Be careful: Tags are separated by commas or spaces. That means that if you write "stone castle, medieval", you've created 3 tags ('stone', 'castle', and 'medieval'), not 2.

Another thought: if we all get serious about tagging our uploads, and enough tags emerge, it might eventually allow Delphy to enable some tag-based navigation on the site. So let's all go and tag our past uploads!

Wait, Delphy... there seems to be a problem with this: I'm not sure whether this was just a problem on my computer or not, but adding tags to my uploaded lot caused the text in my lot description to become invisible. When I removed the tags, the text in the post became visible again. I just thought I'd report this, in case anyone else has the same problem. (I PMed you too, in case you don't see this :))

You can leave your thread after editing keyswords, then enter your same thread. Keyswords will be shown then. It happened to me, too. I did the same and words came back just finely. :)

Edit: When I entered my thread, words did not show up. I waited a few seconds and scroll down a little then words came back. Is this supposed to be like that?

Edit: jhd1189 is right after all. I took keyswords off my few threads. I will wait until this is fixed first.

That's what I meant. The original thread disappears, and you have to highlight it to make it visible.

hehehe... sorry, lol. Anyway... I'm glad I noticed that before everyone updated their uploads... that would have been messy.

Looking at the source to the pages, I'm seeing that the DIV with the description text uses class="bodytable" and the definition has an odd entry for color (underlined)...
.bodytable { background-color:#B0E2FF; color: #000; padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
This could be why the odd text behavior is happening.

edit: This was with the "Blue Skies" style.

Thats a valid color code. Its shorthand for #000000. Its happening under blue game style as well.

Ahh cool, thanks for the info.

Only other oddness I see is...
<p><small>Keywords: medieval <p></small>

Just doesn't seem like this would cause the odd behavior to happen.

It seems to be IE only.

Astymma

Saw this on a website talking about disappearing text in IE...

The solution
Plone 2.1 (and later versions of the 2.0 series) contain a CSS class called visualIEFloatFix which applies the so-called "Holly hack" to get around bugs in the Internet Explorer rendering engine.

The rule looks like this:

* html .visualIEFloatFix { height: 0.01%; }

The * html part is to hide it from Internet Explorer 5 on Mac, which has a totally different rendering engine, and does not exhibit this problem. Additionally, we have structures in Plone that hide this rule from all browsers that are not Internet Explorer (without using browser sniffing), so no other browsers get this style sheet. So it's perfectly safe in us on any browser.

If you use a version of Plone that is older than 2.1, please check that your visualIEFloatFix matches the above, since this bug has gone through a few iterations before reaching its current form.

What this rule does is to apply a very small height to the element, forcing Internet Explorer into something called "layout mode". The reason for the disappearing text problem is that IE caches the size of elements erroneously when handling floating elements, and setting a very small height forces Internet Explorer to re-calculate the height - thus making the text appear again.

edit: found at this site (http://plone.org/documentation/how-to/internet-explorer-invisible-text)

Okay the invisible post text bug is now fixed - actually was just that bad HTML when displaying the keywords but only on the rounded corners style (I use the non-rounded corners one and it worked fine).

Thanks for the reports.

amberandcarlos33, it should be on the bottom left of the first post.

All I see is Thread Tools and Search This Thread. When I pull down the collapsible list under Thread Tools I get: "Show Printable version. E-mail this page. Subscribe to this thread." When I pull down the Collapsible list under "Search This Thread I get: Search this thread. Advanced search." That's all I see. I don't see an "Edit" selection, nor do I see a "Search Keywords" phrase. I am using the Blue Skies style. I don't know if that has anything to do with it since I saw some people mentioning it. Any suggestions, or am I just a dumb blonde and it's right in front of my nose? Silly me. *shakes head*

Thanks,
Amber

hi,
my name is daria and im from germany. i have a problem becouse my english is bad an i can understand sometimes what the people write in the forums and downloads....so...my problem is...i need some skins from the adult downloads but it isnt now here and i cant understand what delphy mean with:
We have decided to split off all adult content to a seperate site, similar to the way that the general discussion / sims forums where split off into http://www.Sims2Community.com/ last year
can someone help me please...???

Oh if you need help just ask me :-)
I will now translate it for you.

The whole is in runs this week to be finished, but can with so a side change also times somewhat longer last.

What exactly do you need? Perhaps I can you there help and you which send.

We have decided all adult contents out on a separate side to page similarly the way like the general discussion/windshield frame section forums last year were separated.

That means however not that you cannot find therefore a dress any longer, which was there once for downloading. Thus my German is not straight branch clean, but I hope you understand which I mean.

You can post in other languages as long as you provide a translation. :jest:
