Recolor Of A Sign

I need to recolour a sign that has been made on this site. It is a real estate sign. i want to make it say "Camp crystal Lake" but all tutorials I try are for different things and don't help with this specifically (all I want to do is change the texture) Please help me.

The only difference is don't select start to load the file table, select open, and browse to the object you want to recolor.
