View Full Version : Why would the basegame clothes/hair show up like this?

I took out my entire downloads folder, and the hair and clothes are still showing up like this. It's just most of the clothes and hair that came with the original game. WHY??!!

To give you a little more information: I recently re-installed all of the games on my new computer, transferred my old game files from the other computer, and then installed Free Time (which was not installed on the other computer I used to play sims on). at first I thought the problem was because of some hack or other cc that was not compatible with Free Time. So then I weeded through my downloads and tried running the game with several different suspect downloads taken out. Then, when the problem persisted, I just took out the whole download folder. No change. So then I re-named the EA Games folder in my documents and re-started the game letting it generate all new files. I still have the same problem. what the heck is wrong??!!

Also, not ALL the clothes/hair that come with the base game but maybe HALF of it show up like that. White with what looks like coding text on it. For example, on someone who is supposed to be blond (like Dina Caliente up there) it says on her hair "blond" and other misc coding stuff I don't understand.

ALL of the CC clothes and hair I downloaded are fine. All of the content from expansions after the original game appear perfectly as well.

MORE pictures to illustrate the problem:

Please! Does anyone have any idea of how to solve this problem??

Try this faq: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Corrupted_Objects.package

Okay, I found that wiki earlier and tried everything on it. It doesn't have the info updated for Free Time, but I pretty much figured it would be similar to the other expansions. So I went in and replaced all the object.package files. I also did it for those files in the 3D folder.
Do you think it would help if I tried to replace the objects.package file from the original game? Seeing as the problem items are all from the original Sims 2 game....?

Soon i might just GIVE UP and delete all the old Maxis neighborhoods and run hoods with only custom/expansion pack content (which would be fine except for some NPC's like the paper by and mailman who will still show up with their white hair and clothes). I don't want to ...but I am just completely baffled and can't figure this out.

First, test with ALL custom content removed if you haven't already. If the problem still occurs, try replacing all of the files in the basegame Sims3D folder.
