Jasmine Davis is just trying to find a place for herself in this huge world, but what she finds instead is a web of everything from love to hate, deception to tenderness. Will she be able to overcome her fears and sense of abandonment and carry on with her search for the perfect storybook ending, or will she fail and never know the meaning of true self-worth?

Chapter One will begin Jasmine's journey through life... We shall have to wait and see how everything turns out.

I have always considered myself to have a pretty normal family. Being an only child, I never had the joys of growing up with someone to fight with or someone to talk to or someone to ride my bike with or stay up all night with. But I loved my family, even though I didn’t have another brother or sister - And it seemed as though they liked having me around as well.

He is the Vise President of Summerset Enterprises, the largest business company in all of Summerset. Having a job in the business career track was always a smart move, mainly because Summerset controlled many other Simcities around it. He is happy with his job, and we are happy for him.

He spends hours on end in his study. I’m not really sure what he does in there all night, but it must be something important for his job because I always hear the keyboard clicking away as he types for hours and hours. His job is almost a mystery to me, but maybe that is because I have never taken the time to ask him about it. Why should I though? He never asks about me.

My mom doesn’t work... Well, she doesn’t work outside of the house. Growing up, I remember my mom having more jobs than I can count. Her favorite job was when she was a wedding photographer in the Artist career track. Her free spirit and creativity always bring her back to her artistic roots.

You see, her mother (my grandmother) was a famous artist in Summerset. She became very poplar in the 1950's when she released her most risque series of oil paintings called “A Kiss at Midnight” which depicted the lives of three different women trying to find a mate before it was too late. The citizens of Summerset went wild because all the paintings were done in the nude, something that the gated community frowned upon. I had always looked up to her; I thought she was the most creative and most beautiful woman I had ever known... even at her age.

Anywho, my mother wasn’t working now because my father made so much money that she felt as though she didn’t need to work. My dad didn’t care. Actually, he liked being the sole money-maker. I think it made him feel strong and important. My mother spent most of her days out on the porch, painting in the sunlight.

I go to Summerset Elite (S.E. for short). It’s the best private school for hundreds of miles, and I’m proud to be a student there. I spend most of my time by myself at home, but I have made a couple of friends at school. I actually met my boyfriend at S.E. a couple of months ago, and we have been dating ever since. He is a dream-boat!

Good lord, did I seriously call my boyfriend a “dream boat”? I did? How embarrassing I’m starting to sound like my mother more and more every day. Speaking of my mother, she has been painting more lately while my dad is at work. It’s not strange behavior or anything, but it just seemed a little excessive. Oh well, it was nice for once that she was staying out of my business.

“Hey mom?” I yelled as I climbed the stairs to my room. “James is picking me up in an hour.”

She mumbled something like “Ok honey”, but I didn’t really hear. Maybe it was more like I didn’t really care because I was going out with him tonight no matter what. I flung my school bad onto the bed and slapped my homework notebook on the desk before I started to get ready for the evening.

Tonight James said he was taking me “somewhere special”. It was our three month anniversary, so I expected him to do something nice for me. I stood in front of my closet for what seemed like hours before I took out the perfect outfit. James was going to love it.

“Hi baby,” James cooed as he watched me walk down the stairs to greet him.

“Hi you,” I replied as I smiled.

“Mmm,” James started but kissed me first, “you look good enough to eat.”

I smiled shyly and returned the compliment with a long hug before we headed out for the night. He took my hand, and we started walking towards downtown. I was smiling from ear to ear thinking about where he was going to take me. I loved going out with James. He always made me feel so special.

“How was your day today, sweetheart?” James asked me as we continued to walk.

“It was good. Miss Radke yelled at the Blue’s again, but all in all it was a good day,” I answered.

The “Blue’s” were the popular kids in S.E. They could never sit still through an entire lecture, and the teachers were always yelling at them for something or other. But although they were the most disruptive people anyone would ever meet, they never seemed to get into too much trouble. It’s scary how much power a group of high school kids can have.

“How was your day?” I asked James.

“It was alright,” James started, “School was fine, but my dad almost popped me one again.”

I frowned as I heard this. James’ dad had a short temper and a violent tongue. He never hit his son, but he could spit things out that cut like a knife. I always felt bad for James every time I would hear the things his father had said to him. This time it was because of a teacher review. One of James’ teachers said that he was too busy talking in class to remember the assignment, but I’m sure it was just because he forgot to write it down.

“Anyways,” James interjected my thoughts, “I just got out of the house before he could ruin my mood for tonight.”

I stopped walking just long enough to smile a bright smile and give him a quick kiss on the cheek. James squeezed my hand slightly as we stopped in front of The Regal. The Regal was the most swanky restaurant in Summerset, and I was thrilled that he chose this place to bring me. I smiled big and looked up at the front doors, just itching to go in.

“Let’s go ” James said, tugging me towards the restaurant.

We were seated in the most beautiful section of the restaurant, and I was so busy looking around that I didn’t have time to look at the menu. Thankfully, James knew already what I would like so he ordered filet minion for himself and turkey for me. We sat and ate happily until our plates were completely clean.

We sat there for another couple of minutes until James reached his hand towards mine. I smiled and took it gently and he began to speak.

“Hey Jaz?” James asked - he called me “Jaz” for short sometimes.

“Yeah,” I said as I looked into his eyes.

“I was thinking,” James started. “We have been seeing each other for a while now, and I thought that maybe it was time we moved our relationship to the next level.”

I thought for a moment.

“Oh,” I finally said when I understood. “Ohhh...”

“I just mean, we love each other right?” James asked.

“Of course,” I answered.

“Well, don’t you think it’s time?” He asked.

“Yeah,” I said a little unsure. “I think so.”

James smiled and kissed the back of my hand before he stood up to pay the bill. We started walking back home, but as we got to one corner of the street, James stopped and turned me around to see him. He placed his hands on my waist and spoke softly.

“Would you like to come home with me tonight?” He asked.

I looked into his piercing grey eyes and smiled slightly. Nodding gently, I took his hand as he lead me the opposite way of my house. My insides were tingling with nervousness as he lead me into his house and then into his room. He told me not to worry and that he would be here when I woke up. I trusted him.

We made love that night. It was the first time for both of us. It was awkward and clumsy, but it felt so right. I was falling in love with him so hard, and I loved it. After everything had happened, James whispered ‘I love you’ in my ear and we drifted off into dreamland.

Just like he had told me, James was there when I woke up. This put a smile on my face because I knew that he didn’t just want “it” from me, but he really cared about me as I cared about him. Smiling to myself, I rolled over to look at James sleeping soundly. My fingers trailed lightly along his jaw line until he started moving slightly under my touch. I leaned in an gave him a little kiss on the lips.

“Morning baby,” He managed to grumble out.

I smiled to myself at how adorable he sounded in the morning. Saying ‘good morning’ to him, I rolled over and swung my legs out of bed. I rubbed my eyes and proceeded to get dressed so that I could go back home.

“Are you going to walk me home?” I asked sweetly.

“Im tired,” James whined.

“Aww c’mon sweetie, just walk me home quick.”

“Jaz, just let me sleep huh?” He asked before rolling over.
My eyebrows scrunched together as I wondered why he didn’t want to walk me home, but I guess he was just more tired than I thought. As I walked home, I thought about the night before and how special it was to both of us. This was the best relationship I had ever been in before, and I was loving it

“ALL night? ”

I was bombarded with a loud voice the second I stepped into my house. My mom was standing there with her hands on her hips looking extremely ticked off. I just rolled my eyes and tried to get past her.

“Jasmine ” She called out after me.

“What? ” I yelled, turning around.

“You were gone all night with James?” She asked again.

My mother stood there for a moment before her mouth shut. I smiled like a brat and stomped up to my bedroom. When I got to my room, I closed the door behind me and started crying lightly. Maybe I had made a mistake. Maybe I shouldn’t have slept with him. A multitude of thoughts were banging around in my head, so I decided to call James.

I snapped my phone shut and flung it onto my bed. How could my mother have been SO right? I hated when she knows things before I do. Now I was even more confused than this morning as I walked to the bathroom to shower and get ready for yet another boring Saturday. I wonder what James and I would talk about when he got here...

"we were dating for 3 months!" in Venice we have a usual way of saying "Te capira'!" that is translated as "You understand!" but means "Oooooh, 3 months? It is an eternity!" in a very sarchastic way... 3 months are NOTHING. So, why this girl has been so stupid to believe him only if he said "We were dating for 3 months"???

James came walking towards my house, and I went to meet him in the front yard. I really didn’t want my mom have the satisfaction of knowing that James and I were fighting about what had happened. James was looking at the sidewalk as I stepped in front of him. This was going to be harder than I thought.

“Hi,” my weak voice said.

“Hey,” he replied.

“Thanks for coming over,” I told him.

“I don’t get why you’re so upset,” James said.

“I’m upset because you are acting funny ” I told him.

“I’m acting funny?”

“Yes ” I started. “Last night... last night was so special to me, and I just thought it would be special to you too.”

“Well, it’s not like I asked you to marry me or something,” James snapped back.

“See?” I said in a harsh whisper. “Why are you so insensitive to this?”

Right at that moment, it felt as though James had ripped out my heart and thrown it to the floor. Why had he changed so much? We were so in love last night, and now everything is blowing up in our faces.

James scoffed and walked away from me. I turned and walked back into the house. This was officially the worst day of my life. I didn’t even look at my mom as I ran up the stairs to my room. I sat on the edge of the bed and started to cry as I thought about everything that James had said.

Last night was supposed to be the most special night we would ever spend together. I gave him my whole heart while we were in bed together, and all he could think about was how non-special the night was. I couldn’t believe that he was reacting like this.

I hear my name.

“Jasmine, honey?”

Who is calling my name?

I force my eyes open and see a large figure towering over my bed. My eyes snapped shut as I smelled my mother’s perfume. What did she want? Didn’t she torture me enough already? I didn’t really want to hear what she had to say, but it seemed as though I didn’t have a choice this time. My eyes opened again, and I looked up to see her looking down at me with a worried look on her face.

“What do you want?” I asked sleepily.

“I want to talk to you,” she said.

“About what?” I said, starting to get annoyed.

“About this thing between you and James.”

“Mom, I don’t want to hear it,” I interjected quickly.

“Jasmine, just listen to me for a minute.”

I sighed heavily when I saw the sincerity on my mother’s face. She took my silence as an invitation to proceed, and she did so with caution. She knew that any slip of her tongue I would make her leave, and I wouldn’t talk to her about it again.

“I wish you could see what happened,” she started.

All I did was narrow my eyes and waited for her to continue.

“James is a nice boy. Your father and I have always liked him. But you have to understand that there are things that come along with taking your relationship to the next level, especially when you are so young.”

“We used protection,” I snapped.

My mom closed her eyes and pretended like she didn’t hear that. She spoke again.

“I know you’re smart. And I know that you love him very much. But giving yourself to someone isn’t always the right thing to do, even if it feels like the most wonderful and natural thing in the world.”

I sat up in my bed and looked down at my blankets. My mom was totally making sense... something that I never thought she could accomplish with me. I thought about everything she was telling me, and suddenly a tear slipped down my cheek and landed on my blanket. I sniffed quietly and finally spoke.

“What did I do wrong?”

“Oh baby,” my mother started and hugged me tightly, “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

My tears stopped, and I looked up at her silently. How was she SO good at being a mother sometimes and so bad at it other times? She told me once it was because she was human. I think I’m finally starting to understand all the pain and hurt that comes with being human and making the wrong decisions and saying the wrong things - just like she has done before with me.

Wow. A story where the mother ISN'T a monster! She's kind ... and loving ... and sympathetic!

That might be a bit of an exaggeration. I thoroughly enjoy many good stories here featuring bad mothers. Evil mother figures have been featured in stories since antiquity. But I tend to be puzzled when this board gets moments where there is a flood of new stories full of mothers who are absolutely wretched or just don't care to get involved in their childrens' lives. There is a place for a character who tries to be a good mother, after all, even if she isn't perfect. :)

Firstly, thank you so much for the kind wishes...

Secondly, (although this type of scenario doesnt happen all the time in real life) I think its such a shame that when girls sleep with their boyfriends and their relationship goes haywire, they automatically think its something wrong that they (as the girl) did. I wanted to write it into the story that not only is it always the girl's fault, it can be the guy's fault or even no one's fault.

I woke up with a bad feeling about me and James. Our relationship was just not like it used to be. A couple months to some mat seem like only a scratch on the surface, but to me and James... It was like every hour together was like a new day. We were so comfortable around each other, and things just seemed to click whenever we were together.

But this fight that we were having didn’t seem like us at all. I was so confused as to why James all of the sudden started to treat me like this. He was such a nice boy, and I didn’t think that I did anything to upset him...

But I still worried. What if we were never going to work things out? What if James and I never truly fell in love and spent our lives together? What if we broke up? These questions were just too much for me to handle, so I tried to lie down for a few more minutes before I had to leave for school.

The day dragged on and on, and all I could think about was talking to James. I had called him this morning on my way to school and asked him to come over so that we could talk, and ever since then there was this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I knew he was going to break up with me. I just knew it.

Our phone conversations were now limited to only 30 seconds, unlike before when we could sit on the phone and talk for hours. I really missed that. I missed everything about our relationship, and I really missed him. I’m so used to walking home with him everyday after school, and spending all day long talking, and staying up all night talking and laughing.

I started thinking about everything I wanted to say and everything I wanted him to know. Shaking my head and closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and waited for him to knock on the door. This was going to be one of the hardest things I have ever faced. I hope I could handle it.

Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh, no...

I bounced my leg on the bathroom tile and stared down at the tiny device. My eyes welled up to the point where I could barely even see the tiny blue line anymore. This seriously couldn’t be happening. It can’t happen - not on the first time

A few tears made their way down my cheeks until I took a deep breath, wiped them away with the back of my hand. This couldn’t be happening to me. What was I going to do? My fingers balled up into little fists, and I tried to regulate my breathing before I called him. Atl least I could count on him. I know he would be my support.

Between tiny gasps for breath and a couple of sniffs, I managed to ask James to come over right away. He said that he would be over in a couple of minutes, so I decided to wait in the bathroom for him to come.

It was one week ago that we had our talk. Everything went alright, and I managed to get him to understand everything that I was feeling. We decided to slow things down but still be a couple, since neither of us could really live without the other.

I made my way downstairs when my mother yelled to me that James was here. Trying to rehearse how I was going to tell him, I moved my lips silently and prayed that he would be my support. I needed him more than anything right now. James saw me and walked up to me quickly. But as he got closer, his eyes trailed down my body until he noticed it.

Unfortunately, no birth control is 100% effective. Things can go wrong. Even with the Pill, which has a very low pregnancy rate, things can happen. The young lady might have been taking certain antibiotics. She might have forgotten to take it for a couple of days.

I'm not sure what method the couple in the story used, but most likely, it was ye olde Trojan method. That has a pregnancy rate of about 3 to about 14 percent. James might have not put the condom on correctly, made a couple of pinhole tears in it while fumbling to get it on (I know of one person that happened to!), or perhaps got a bit too frisky BEFORE putting even reaching for the rubbers.* Without sounding like Dr. Gazania, while the probability is very small unless you used withdrawal, you can actually get pregnant without intercourse depending on what you were doing before you used protection.

Actually, if James and Jasmine did use protection, that might explain why James is insisting it isn't his baby. It makes the story spicier that way. :)

Dear God,

I haven’t done this in a long time... But I know you’re still here. Everything in my life has changed. I’m pregnant. Well, I’m sure you know that already. My boyfriend left me when he found out. I don’t think he will ever come back. Now even my own parents won’t call me their child. After James freaked out, everything changed. I mean, I thought he would be strong for me. I thought he would be there for me. And now he isn’t. Then I thought that if James freaked out, I would always have my parents on my side. But they aren’t. They are on his side. God... could you... please help me? If no one is going to take care of me, I need you to take care of me.

I stuffed the letter in the envelope and put it into my pocket. It was the last letter I would ever write in my house ever again. I looked around my room - there was hardly anything left except for my bed and all the boxes. Like I mentioned in my prayer, my parents kicked me out. When I told my dad, I thought I was going to be hit again.

He took off his reading glasses and looked up from his computer screen. First he looked into my eyes, but I noticed after I didn’t say anything for the shorter part of a minute his eyes snapped down to my little protruding belly. His expression didn’t change much as he snapped his eager eyes back up to mine and waited for an explanation.

“Daddy, I’m pregnant.”

He looked at his desk and then rose from it, stepping directly in front of me. I lowered my head to the ground before he spoke.

To Gazania: yes, I know how it works in "real life" but here we are speaking of "sims"!!! So, if BoolPropped has choosen the interaction "woohoo" and not "try for a baby" all should be ok!
To BoolPropped: in this sim-Coutry they don't know there are human rights? 1) if the child is of A, A cannot run away, because law says A has to provide economical subsistation to the child 2) parents cannot send away their daughter if she can't provide for herself... and also if she is not 18+
Why that girl has not called a lawyer? And why her parents haven't called that stupid boy and kick him a lot???

Gee, I take that back about the mother. I THOUGHT she was a good one. That was a turn-around with the parents in general.

Vaalyah does have a point. Theoretically, Jasmine can contact Social Services and have them go after the parents. However, the parents may respond by tossing her into a foster home, so THAT'S not the best idea, either. And I doubt Jasmine would know about that option. Perhaps the parents WERE planning to do that, but Jasmine left before they made the arrangements. But ... I think I'm thinking way too much here!

I would love to see what happens to Jasmine next. Please update!

Gazania, I can assure you that here in Italy (yes, judges are stupid) they sentenced that parents have to support in their own house the sons/daughter evan at 30 if they don't have a job. (a sort of parents exploitation, but it is not the point). So, I think it is sure that Jasmine cannot be sent away like this! So, Jasmine, call a lawyer!!!

The main reason I decided to live in this pit of an apartment building was because there was already some furniture inside for me to use! The furniture was rather scarce and extremely old and ratty, but it was certainly better than nothing. In the kitchen came a fridge, an oven that only worked when it wanted to, some counter space and a small table to the side.

Bob owns this crummy apartment building, never really takes showers, and has a huge crush on me. It’s disgusting, but I live here so I can’t say much.

There is a family of four living in the upstairs “suite”. They are all very nice, but I never really see them around. The family consists of Trevor and Maggie Hall and their two adopted children, April and May. Yeah, don’t even ask about the names - I don’t understand it either.

George Turbidoe is about the goofiest person I have ever met. He is a photographer at a local camera store here in Summerset, and he does amazing work. The hard thing for George and his talent is that he comes from a rather poor family, so it is nearly impossible to make a name for yourself here in Summerset.

Anywho, George really takes care of me. The first day I moved in here, he came over and introduced himself, asked about the baby and told me if I ever needed anything that I could just ask him. Although the outside of the building was a little rough, there were some pretty nice people within those rough walls who were willing to help me out.

The days seemed to be going by slower and slower as my belly grew bigger and bigger. I could feel baby kicking me now, and I always giggled when baby got the hiccups. I didn’t want to know if the baby was going to be a boy or girl, so I just called it “baby.” It seemed to work fine for the baby.

“How is school going?”

I turned my head around to see George looking at me kindly.

“It’s going pretty well. Other than the constant snickering from the other teenage girls, the teachers have been pretty nice about giving me extensions and stuff,” I told him.

“That’s good. Just let me know if any guys give you lip about things... I’ll give them a FAT lip,” George threatened.

I laughed and patted George on the arm as I walked towards my apartment. I told him that I needed to get ready for work and that I would talk to him later. I found a low-paying job as a dishwasher for a couple hours after a school. It was really hard living on my own, going to school AND having a job, but I was determined to do it.

Baby was growing so fast; I was wondering when I would go into labor. For many reasons, I wished that I would have baby after I graduated from high school. It would still be hard to raise baby in college, but it would definitely be easier with scholarships and school grants. Before I got this job, George was pretty good about making me dinner and things.

One quiet night, my feet were feeling rather sore and tired from standing all day washing dishes, so I decided to take a long, hot bath and lie down on the couch for a while. I thought I would rest for about an hour before my favorite show was on the TV. Oh yeah, and George had given me his old TV when he got his new one.

After my bubble bath, I walked slowly to the couch and laid down gently. My stomach was getting so big, I was wondering whether or not I would be having twins. As I drifted off to sleep, my mind wandered all over and into some places I wish it wouldn’t have. Dreams about James and my unborn baby wafted through my head for about an hour until I finally woke up.

After sitting up and stretching, I reached for the TV remote and settled myself into the couch for an hour of my favorite show. This was my favorite part of the night. The show was hilarious, and it often brought me back and made me feel like a carefree teenager at times. I liked that feeling.

It was only about 10 minutes into the show when I heard a sound outside on my front porch. My eyebrows scrunched together as I sat up straight and reached for the remote. I wondered who it was at my front door. Starting to get my hopes up, a smile made its way to my face as I thought about opening the door to reveal my mom or dad on the other side, wanting me to come home. I turned off the TV quickly and rushed to the door.

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

James didn’t say anything but simply looked around the shabby apartment. I was a little embarrassed to be honest, but there really wasn’t anything I could do about it. This was just all I could afford at the time. I turned to James again and spoke.

“What are you doing here, James?” I demanded a little harsher this time. “You know you just left me.”

“I had to,” James finally responded.

“You had to?” I repeated. “I think you were too scared to face your own child,” I told him.

James snapped his head around to look straight into my eyes before he spoke. He stepped into my personal space and spoke very low and very soft.

“That is not my child.”

His stare was so intense that I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his. I looked back at him and tried to think of something new to say other than ‘This IS your baby’, but I couldn’t think of anything.

“It is your-”

“IT IS NOT MINE!” James screamed into my face.

“I want you to listen to me,” James started out quietly as he moved closer to me. “If anyone ever asks you about that baby, you will not - I repeat - WILL NOT refer to me as the father. As far as I am concerned, this baby is not related to me whatsoever.”

“James!” I scolded him.

I started to get a little scared when James’ expression fell and his face grew cold and emotionless. Watching him like a hawk, I saw him walking over into the kitchen and reach for something. My heart leapt into my throat as I watching him stalk back towards me.

The next couple of second flew by like a bolt of lightening, and all I could think about was my little baby. I reached down and covered my stomach tightly with my arms as I felt James step closer to me.

As James stepped closer to me, I nearly fell completely to my knees. My mouth dropped open as I felt a sharp pain, piercing its way through my stomach and nestling in my lower back. As the pain intensified, my adrenaline kicked in, and I managed to push him away from me. James swore at me and then exited the apartment without another word.

I was nearly doubling over in pain as the tears flooded to my eyes. It felt as though every single thought, every single emotion had been spilled out of me. It was like I couldn’t feel anything anymore. I stood in the middle of my apartment and let my head fall into my hands.

Something in my subconscious must have kicked my brain back into gear because I felt my legs dragging my tired body towards the phone. I was so surprised by what had happened that I could barely remember the number for 911. I managed to dial it slowly and spoke hurriedly to the operator.

Turning my back to the wall, I slowly let my legs turn into jelly and slid my body down the wall until I was sitting on the floor with my legs in front of me. My stomach felt like it was on fire, but my legs were completely frozen I looked down to inspect myself and was horrified by what I saw.
