Hello,
I have been having a problem with my Sims 2 for the past couple of days and I need help! when I click on it to open it up, the icon just bounces on the dock and then never opens. I have sent a ticket to aspry and they just have me running in circles doing the same things over and over and not solving any problems.
Looking around the web I think that it may be my quicktime that is interfering with the game, and I know there is supposed to be a way to fix this from the asphry website, but when i go to the quicktime 7.6 patch link, it takes me to a blank page that says "no sub categories". Does anyone know whats going on with my game or have an alternate link to the quicktime patch?

Your symptom (bouncing icon, nothing happens) does sound like it could be the Quicktime thing. Which system version are you on, and which version of Quicktime do you have?

That link seems broken – trying to get to the patches on the Aspyr site takes me nowhere, just like you describe. I know there *was* a list of patches at http://support.aspyr.com/ -- I looked at it a few times when I wrote the sticky (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=316618) about it. I don't have any record of the download URLs for the actual files, unfortunately, and we cannot fix Aspyr's website for them either .. =/

I would suggest you go and slap Aspyr with a very large and very dead fish for removing their own patches .. you sound like you tried this already, but did you also ask explicitely for those patches?

Maybe you could also circumvent the issue by upgrading your OS. The Quicktime problem does not seem to occur on Leopard. Would that be an option for you?

I am on 10.4.11, its Tiger. The quicktime is 7.6. I am wary to upgrade my OS because it always seems to cause more problems than it solves. Hopefully I can get something out of Aspyr within the next few days, but its extremely frustrating waiting for them to reply and just having them tell me to do the same thing they told me to do the day before.
Ill just keep trying I guess..?

Out of curiosity: what is Aspyr telling you to do?

I know you're probably getting a frontline representative who only knows how to copy-n-paste standard tech help replies. It's just...Aspyr had posted a fix! It's bizarre. Have you directed them to their own website and asked where the fix has gone?
