Oh please.. someone help me. This issue is seriously un-findable..

I have a laptop.. That can run most games, it's ment to be kind of, a gaming laptop. It should be, but with vista, nooo. And i do NOT have an onboard graphics card.

PROBLEM: TREE's, WALLS's, and SOME FURNITURE, turn up like code, with thus, I cannot access making a family. When I do access family, it crashes the game, probly due to the graphics missing.

Okay, this is what I've done:
-Installed Patch
-Run compatibility mode or w/e it is for xp sp2
-INSTALLED the game in compatibily mode and in xp sp2
-face palm here for alittle
-Drivers are completely updated. EVEN the graphics card.
-cry
I've been on the FAQ on this website, and the sims Wiki, googled every possiable thing I can.. Please guys, help a vista victim
BTW, I do not have any custom stuff :). I only have the first sims.

This is still, what I have WRONG

I've been trying to find a solution for a good 10 hours.
It seems not many people have this problem

BUT! This is happening on both my boyfriends and my laptop.
I have the Toshiba, and he has a HP running on Windows Vista 32 BIT

Before you suggest using xp, my laptop now isn't compatible with XP NO MORE. I wish I could, but I can't.

My specs are:
OP: Vista 64 bit Operating system, Service pack 1
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4600 Series
Ram: 4 Gigs
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo 2.10GHz

[UPDATE] More of the sausy sims 2 errors.

This is usually caused by file corruption. If it's happening on both machines and after a fresh install, then that probably means your discs are damaged - did this start after a new install? Or a new EP?

I don't have any EP's :) I only have the first one.

And yes, it is a fresh new install on new laptops. Discs are in perfect condition, and they work on my old laptop. It's strange but true.

It really sounds like corrupted files to me, even though you say it's a fresh install. If you've downloaded the game patches and updated all drivers (did you say you updated the chipset drivers?), the game should work.
I did some searching and came up with this wiki article http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Corrupted_Objects.package - I know you said you searched the wiki. I can't help it, after reading that article I really think you have corrupted files. That article will tell you where to find the files on your discs and what to do with them.

eta something I thought of: I have had problems with games not installing right. Feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me for suggesting this..but- are you sure there are no fingerprints or anything on the disc(s)? A teeny smudge of something? It may sound simple and silly, but something like that can affect things. Just ask my "Mom, can you clean this disc for me, the game won't play" kids.

The disks may look fine, but as mustluvcatz says it can be hard to see grime - just to be sure, try doing a clean uninstall as per this FAQ: Game Help:Uninstall, and then following these steps to ensure that your reinstall goes as smoothly as possible: Game Help:Install.
