View Full Version : Specific Sims Always 'Reset'

In my game, there are two married vampire sims that seem to 'reset' every time I load their lot and it has only been them that this affects. When the lot loads, the two are standing beside the mailbox with their motives changed, even if they were at work when I last saved, on an occasion. At the moment, the two are living by themselves however before their pets died, their dogs were not affected. It also seems that this only happens on their home lot, as it didn't occur on their vacation or owned community lots. I unfortunately can't pinpoint when this started but I've had this issue for a long time, it continuing after installing expansion packs/ patching. I believe this began with the female sim when she was still engaged and living with her parents (who were unaffected) sometime after she graduated from university, when at that point it affected her only, and her husband 'caught' it after having her move in. I've gone through the Game Problem FAQ up until the step where I'm required to remove all my user files, which I'm reluctant to do as I don't know how to recreate the problem without those two sims.

I'm really at a loss for what to do and though this isn't something that seems to affect the functioning of the family in any other way, it's very irritating as I must wait for nightfall and my sims to stop performing any actions before saving to avoid glitching the objects in use and not risk having them burn. This has taken a lot of fun out of playing on them and made it rather tedious when they used to be the sims I played on most in the past. Help with how I could fix this would be much appreciated.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:

General - Do the Game Problem FAQ
You appear to have not gone through our main Game Help:Game Problem FAQ. Please go through and do the steps on this FAQ, including any others that it links to (for example the Game Help:Game Problem-Problem Custom Content FAQ).

Usually, in the vast majority of cases, actually going through and doing the steps (doing, not just reading) fixes issues - sometimes you may be asked to remove custom content, or to patch - please rest assured that all of our FAQs have been tested by our staff and volunteers and we wouldn't suggest you do something unless it's been known to fix particular issues.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

julianarosalia, methinks you missed reading this:I've gone through the Game Problem FAQ up until the step where I'm required to remove all my user files, which I'm reluctant to do as I don't know how to recreate the problem without those two sims.

I've done everything that was in the Game Problem FAQ up until the step stated above but to attempt to recreate the problem after removing my user files is beyond my ability at the moment as I have no real idea of what triggered it at all in the first place. Because this has only affected those two and none others, the possibilities seem too wide and I would not know which aspects to recreate and which would be insignificant in a new family. I've also tried deleting the cache files several times as per the help section which had no affect.

Have you tried moving them out of the house (if you use Inge's Stay Things Shrub then all the furniture/decorations/etc will stay) and into a Maxis pre-built home? The house itself might be corrupted.

It seems to be fixed when I move them into another lot however is there any way I could get their old lot fixed? It doesn't matter as much if there isn't however it would be good if there was as I really liked their lot. Thank you for the help, nonetheless, I'm glad that I've finally got a solution.

Maybe if you put the house into the lots bin and then replace it the game might clear the glitch. And if it doesn't, you know how to solve the problem.

(Actually, you can let your vampires meditate and save the game during the day if you have to. Meditation freezes the motives, so they don't burn even if they are in full sunlight. I've had to do that with my vampires before.)

It's rare that a glitched lot can be fixed. It would probably be easier if you tried to redecorate/rebuild another copy of that lot instead. But I'm glad to hear that it's not the sims and only the lot.

Ah, I see. Thank you both for helping. I'm yet to try Ghost sdoj's suggestion so I guess I'll try that first however if there are no other solutions then this may be locked. Thanks again.
