Firstly apologies if this has already been posted.

I'm rebuilding the Fire Station in my game, and was hoping to have a sort of live in arrangement so that my Fireman Sim could live within the Fire Station.

Is it possible? To have a sim live within the Fire Station?

Thanks!

He could if you forced him to stay there day and night and gave him a place to sleep and eat.

Yes. Just never return home, and your sim will live wherever you want.

What I've done is place a tiny lot (minimum size) right next to the fire station, and assign that lot to the sim. They can get their mail at that lot, and if you want to you can decorate it to look like an extension of the fire station grounds. Maybe build a kitchen on it, since you can't have a functional stove on a community lot, so otherwise you wind up living on quick meals and hot dogs.

You can sleep and do everything else at the fire station, though the other firefighters will go home for about two hours in the middle of the night ;)

I also recommend using Buzzler's No Carpool mod, or the carpool will attempt to take your Sim the two feet between home and work ><

If you're talking about this mod http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=408920 , the stoves are only decorative... they still can't be USED on community lots. The post has a good explanation of why.

I'll look into it.

:D That would make a lot of people happy. Since Ambitions came out, I've really gotten into having my sims live on community lots. The Stylist can live over the Salon, or an inventor or sculptor or artist can live right at the Consigment Store, for instance. It's nice to have the liveliness that comes from other sims being around all the time (lil like Apartment Life).

My firefighter sims always end up living at the station. My guys are there working out/inventing/mainting the truck and bells and all of a sudden it's 7AM and I get a pop up saying a car pool will come and get them. My firefighters (who are usually single and have no roomates) never go home and after a coupld of days I get that pop up that the bills need to be paid right away so I just click the box and I'm good for the next couple of days. If you use "testingcheatsenabled true" you can just refill the hunger bar (because they can only have quick meals) and go on with your day. It's also usefull to live at the station when an earthquake hits because you are right there to respond to the emergancy. Also my firefighters end up getting to lvl 10 in their jobs in about a sim week because the station gives you everything you need - athletic equipment and tons of things to tinker with and maintain. But to end this paragraph there is no way to officially live at the station. Your sim needs to have a home address but they dont ever have to go home.

In the rest area of the firestation I removed 2 beds, made a nice bedroom out of it and bought my guy 100 HQ rations. He hasnt been home since and it works really well...thats an interesting idea for the beauty salon...but since you cant buy it (in the default town) how do you develop the upstairs?

You can edit all community lots by going into edit town town, click on the lot and choose build/buy.

derrrr...as soon as I hit 'enter' I was like 'of course you can'.
You're right, it's weird how you can edit it even though you cant buy it (in Pleasantview)

My firefighter pretty much lived at the station until he got to Level 10 (he quit a week or so later, got married and became a "farmer"). I did what Srikandi recommended and made a small lot right beside the station so he could pay bills and do a few other things in his free time. Just had a couple of harvest-able plants (apple trees, tomatoes, grapes) there at first, and added a sofa & bookcase & a little "outhouse" area later on -- I also used it to park & maintain my "personal" firetruck once I got that, so be sure to have an empty area big enough to hold the larger parking space.

Nice mod but the problem was your game might be corrupted due to the mod. I tried installing once and what I noticed that it will conflict with the current household stoves especially when I tried to change the color. It will freeze your the game no matter and especially when you tried to change the style and finally your savegame will be corrupted.

@hatosan: Why do you mention these possible issues here; why aren't you discussing this with the modder who made the mod?

and finally your savegame will be corrupted. You forgot that the mod set your dog's tail on fire, and that your mommy doesn't love you anymore because of the mod.

Dear Buzzler, did you check the link? Perhaps yours made the dog's tail set on fire and my mom hated you but I'm not pointing to yours, I was talking about Winterhart's mod as Srikandi specifically linked the URL to Winterhart, lol. So don't take it wrong, I wasn't the first person having the same problem using WH Stove by Community lots mod. I never used any of your Community Stove mod before and I got nothing against you nor Winterhart. It was a common problem and other gaming factors might contribute too. Sometimes it worked or it might not. Sarcasm won't fix a problematic mod and don't take it personally. ;)

PS: You have created wonderful mods but I dont know, perhaps that you need to improve your "communication skills" instead of "making fun" of others.
