Extending foundation on beach lots

I built a dockyard (with docks) on a beachfront lot and wanted to extend the docks further, perhaps out over the water -- and would have preferred using columns as a base, rather than the terrain as shown. I fooled around with CFE but am not really very good at using it. My question to the master builders here is how would you have built something like this?

I know this thread is a little old (sorry for the thread necromancy), but I'm need of a break from my work. Right now, I can only use Sim-related things for breaks if they're productive or helpful to someone else....otherwise I'll be playing and get nothing done. :)

I'm fairly sure that dragging one type (lattice deck, column deck, or foundation) over another changes its type. Check out this thread (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=1781647) and see if it doesn't help.

If you still want that section to be wallpapered, then you might need to use CFE to create a dummy level (of foundation height) that is elevated over the water. I've never done this, so maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in with some thoughts.

Thanks -- Yes, that is the foundation. I'll play with it some more and see what happens.

I don't really know if this will work I haven't tested!

Anyway,it might be possible to extend the lot over a sea/lake/river,with LotAdjuster [this way you can place the foundation],and then use the Portal Revealer to place the beach portals [this way your sims will be able to swim in the sea/lake/river].

Or you can only extend the lot,if you don't care about swimming.
