View Full Version : Cloning or packaging sims already in play??

Hi everyone. I have all the games except for two stuff packs. I had bought a new laptop (Windows 7, bought specifically for its compatibility with ALL the sims games at once), but I didn't have all the games with me where I was living at the time. So I have Sims 2 Deluxe (which includes Nightlife), Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, and Apartment Life, plus some stuff packs. Now I've reunited with my other expansion packs and I'm eager to get those put on. I know that means losing everything I had and starting all over from scratch.

What I was really wanting to know is whether or not I can somehow package sims that are currently in play on the game I have now? I haven't wiped it out yet. Say, for example, I have a batch of kids that just grew up to teens and I would love to use those teens, as they are, for the first batch going into university. They have very unique facial structures that they were born with, and I'm a legacy player. I despise changing them if I can help it. So is there any way to package them if they're already in play, or perhaps cloning them and packaging them to put into the newly installed game?

I've looked everywhere for the answer to this, and either it's really so simple that everyone assumes people already know the answer to this, or no one has ever asked. Most of the people I've talked to one-on-one about it have all said, "Oh, I haven't tried that..."

So if someone could please let me know I'd be extremely grateful. Otherwise I'm taking a LOT of pictures of trying to painstakingly recreate... T_T

Why do you believe that you will lose everything and must start over from scratch? As far as I know, adding EPs and SPs won't destroy your save game, although I would backup just to be on the safe side.

In any case, here's the FAQ on Game_Help:Moving_Sims.

I was under the impression that if you were installing an EP that is older than what you currently have on that you would lose that information. I have Seasons on, but not Uni-Pets. In fact, everything except Deluxe was AFTER Pets.

But thanks for that link.

No, as far as I know, installing a new EP, whether older or newer than your current set, will not destroy your neighborhoods. I've never had any problems.
