View Full Version : Problem with installing Sims3Pack files

Hi. I've done a search and I can't seem to find anything recent about this issue, so I guess I'll detail it here...
Basically, I've reinstalled my Sims 3, with all the SPs and EPs, in view of the arrival of Pets. So my current copy is 100% clean and up to date. (Windows: v1.26)
So I tried to install some newly downloaded sims3pack files, such as the Pets Store and Hidden Springs. The files are placed into the download folder, and show up under the Downloads tab in the Sims Launcher. However, when I try to install them, an error message shows up: "Installation Failed: Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates and try again."
However, when I tried installing some older sims3packs that I've saved before my uninstallation, those seem to install properly. Perhaps there is a particular utility that I can use to try to diagnose this problem? Thanks in advance for your replies!

nicholasloh, you could try making sure that your EPs and SPs are also fully patched, as in the past that's had an effect.

Okay, so I think the problem is that only the base game and Pets are up to date. The other ones don't seem to be of the correct version. How do I go about updating them?

Download the patches manually from the links in the Patch table and apply them.

Just to confirm, so I'm supposed to download the Superpatcher off here:http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Download/Current
and apply that patch?
OR
Am I supposed use the Alternative Method listed here: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_PatchingEPSP
[EDIT]
Okay, so I downloaded all the individual patches off the table and applied them. All the SPs and EPs are up to date, and I tried installing but it still didn't work.
So I tried installing the Superpatcher on top of it all, thinking that perhaps it might help, but still nada.
My Sims Launcher version is 10.0.96, in case it matters...

If you're already caught up patch wise (since you have Pets that would patch the game for you), and you still get that error, issue may point to Origin. Do you have EADM still installed or Origin? And is Origin updated? You need to uninstall the older version and redownload to update Origin, sometimes.
If you want your EPs & SPs to be at the last updated versions for them ie at the 2.17 - 7.3 level, then click on the Archive links for each add-on (either the linked version numbers or the Archived link in the Related Pages section). They have to be downloaded and installed separately for however many add-ons you have.
Oh, 10.0.96 is your Pets version. :)

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I've individually patched up all the EPs and SPs, using the archived patch files, and its all up to date now. But still zilch.
But I do not have EADM nor Origin installed. Should I install them then?
I'm pretty confused as to what I should do now.
ETA: And I've noticed that my entire town has completely stopped aging. But I doubt this is related... Gah. Pets is giving me a headache.

Those Store Sims3Packs are downloaded from the Store or elsewhere?
Can you install any Lot downloaded from MTS?
Might also want to work through the FAQ Game_Help:GCCTSU3_Start, or the Sims3Pack page in particular Game_Help:GCCTSU3_Redo/DCCache.
