Well i notised somthing. I notised that most of tthe people who play sims are girls. Why is that and is it wrong for a guy like me to play the sims? What we all know that 90% of people who plays the sims is a virgin. But i myself found the game a little girlish... Is it wrong for me as a male to play it?

Yes. Please stop.

Shoot. Is it wrong for me as a moderator to be snarky? Okay...the Sims 1, 2, and 3 are about creating and building and decorating and imaginative, open-ended play. Thank you for finding these things girlish: girls are every bit as awesome as you suggest. The Sims Medieval seems mostly to be about developing time management skills, and those are gender-neutral. Your testosterone is safe, sir.

LMAO!! You guys (sorry....girls) are a crackup!

Honestly, only a GUY would worry about whether or not a computer game was too girlish. Personally, I've never given it a thought one way or the other. Maybe because I'm female and don't waste my time on such trivial matters.

Is there a pink and blue version of TSM? That would explain quite a bit. How do I get the blue version. That must be the one with a build function. I bet it has blood during the sword fights too. Where would I get THAT version? (And if this is the pink version why isn't there more to buy and better clothes? Where's my Medieval Mall? So is there a purple version that has both?) Of course if I have to make a choice then I want the Brick Mason, Stone Cutter, Carpentry, Farming, and Coach and Horse Version with bleeding sword duels. That would be the guy one, right?
I'm confused. :(

Is this cause I'm not a virgin or 15? :wtf:

Point: Many of the top modders in the community are male (Delphy, Pescado, Two Jeffs, Twallan)

Point: Many are also female (HystericalParoxysm, Mootilda, Inge Jones)

Point: Many of the top creators are male (Anto, Ulker, at least half of Newsea, Bau,)

Point: Many are also female (Heidi from Exotic Elements, Judy-AAS, Sixtyten from Awesims)

Point: If you look at any Simmer who has been in the community before TS3/TSM came out sorry not many of us are 15 year old virgin girls (or boys) since many of us have been playing since TS1 came out in 2000 (we might of been 15 then but sure as boots aren't anymore. Many TS3/TSM players might be teenage girls but really there is no way to prove how many of them are in fact virgins esp since people lie on surveys (not to mention I have not seen a single Sims community survey that includes that as a ? , age yes, gender yes, but sexual activity no) and that fact that this is a PG-13/PEGI-12 game and parents would have fits if that kind of ? was asked on a survey about video games. Maybe you are mistaking the Sims series for The Adventures of Leisure Suit Larry

Conclusion: Sims is a gender neutral game, yes it is a virtual dollhouse but it is also a set of virtual tinkertoys whereby you can tear things down and build them up again. If you feel so upset that playing the Sims affects your masculinity maybe a nice round of Halo will help, the red (pink is just a shade of red after all) vs blue conflict is perfectly acceptable in Halo

Guys, based on something the OP said in another thread - he may only be 13. At thirteen, young boys are trying to untangle their ideas about gender and sexuality.

Dordracio - It's a game. If you like the game, play it. If you don't, then don't. There is no reason to judge people who play this/these games. If anyone tries to judge you for playing this/these games, think about what's behind that judgement and why it is less about you and more about the one slinging names.

A man who is secure about himself does not feel a need to defend his choices in games, nor whether he is a virgin or not.

*Edit* Real men aren't afraid of homosexuals either. Real men are comfortable with themselves and confident. They accept other people for who they are.

I went back and read all the posts by the OP. He mentions his Daddy a few times. Yeah, this is a kid.

Now THAT is a real thread killer. Didn't know from the tones of various discussions that 13 year olds could get on the list because for me, that's not just a thread killer, it's a list killer too.

VerDeTerre

KKiryu007Joker

Hahah, yeah you're right, he's just some kid. He mentioned a dad secured something, and is afraid of homosexual people, if you remember the rules in Medieval thread. Listen up kid, if you wanna be like in your kiddo signature, then respect gay people, and realize that gender prohibits nothing. Gender is an old boundary of excrement! A real man should be able to stand up for what's right. And forever remember that when you are old, you'll be laughing at your old ideas you had back when you were a kid!

All gender determines is what is your human eh... wing-dang-doodle. (NO NOT THE NOSE.)

Restricting an entire gender from doing something is like restricting an entire race from doing something. Sure, you don't see many girls with facial hair (or much body hair) and you don't see many guys in skirts, but it certainly isn't "prohibited" for them to do such a thing! (All though most hairy in the face women are recruited for the position of "Bearded Lady")

I'm an adult female, I play fighitng/zombie video games, I watch anime, listen to Vocaloid, very often eat "HUNGRY MAN" TV dinners, does any of this mean I am a 13 year old boy?! *looks down my pants* I DON'T THINK SO. (but I could be wrong, I'm sure you know more about me than I do)

So. You're a 13 year old homophobic who likes to classify video games by "girly-ness". Because you're a kid, I'm gonna be NICE. Ish.

Oh, and in case you're unaware of this, Delphy, the owner of the site, is in fact an adult male. *MIND BLOWN.*

No. I do not consider it to be a Girls game, nor does really anyone on this site (well.. apart from you.)

Much like a coach. Better with ruts, made of metal, steers with a wheel, wonder of wonders, and much like the Sims Medieval, it is horseless. I got the propellor beanie to fly but it wouldn't stay on my head. I see it zipping by every now and then trying to scrounge up a free meal. I think it's found a mate and is nesting nearby.

So you were able to figure out what the Sims Communities were but weren't able to reason out what an Automotive Community was. Well, no, I couldn't because I had not heard it coined before. I mean, everyone I know has a kitchen, but no one says they are part of a "kitchen community" either. So when I heard "automotive community" I thought it referred to some sort of game like The Sims. Actually there are about three basic kinds of kitchen communities. Those who cook and collect recipes, those who cook and collect kitchen gadgets, and those who rebuild and decorate kitchens. Then there are sub-groups for each one of them.

For any noun or verb you can think of there is a group on the internet you can tack the word community onto. ;)

Ah, so these are internet communities! I hadn't thought of it that way - it makes a lot of sense, sort of like when my Sims go blogging on their computers. Thanks for the explanation! :call:

Since you belong to at least 4 different communities that you listed, since you are quite versed in words, since you have identified yourself as a person who works with special needs children, you aren't doing a good job of convincing me that you are possibly so foolish as to not know what an internet community is. I noticed this includes a group called vintage. So either you are old enough to understand what the word community means outside of the internet or you're just a puppy who likes to convince the big dogs of his self worth; but I think it's the former.

What you have done is convinced me that you enjoy playing with perfectly sensible people for your own amusement, and perhaps sometimes at their own expense (sometimes known as patronizing them). But you did it well and deflected any further criticism of the OP (a somewhat foolish child "groping to come to terms of his own sexuality"). You let on that you were a teacher in a previous thread that you yourself began and that's what a dedicated teacher would do. You did it knowing precisely what you were doing and how to play it (that particular thread also led us to believe you are well versed in psychological tactics and strategy and methods).http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=462606

A rather magnificent strategy. Well done! :!:

VerDeTerre

Oh, I know what an internet community is. What I didn't know was what an "automotive community" was. It never occurred to me to label a community where people drive, which is all communities I know, as "automotive" any more than it would occur to me to label communities where they use toilet paper as "toilet paper communities". When you put it into the perspective of an online community, it makes sense to me. Although...an online community about autos? That sounds rather dry. I'm not trying to mess with anyone, I simply had not heard that usage before.

But, in any case, I don't need to convince you. I was just explaining my confusion. What I'm not really understanding here is why you feel that I'm playing with you nor why you feel a need to nit pick. My question was genuine, my confusion was genuine, the joking that followed was not appreciated. All I needed was an explanation. End of story.

Yep, I already know, MODs--I'm one step too far. But since I'm already flailing and falling through mid-air, what the hell...

Wasn't nit picking. No one has lice here. I was calling BS and giving you a compliment at the same time. Your question, I'm sure, was genuine (as in not made up) but it was your confusion I questioned (and still do) as genuine. The joking you kept going yourself. If you hadn't wanted it to go on you would have simply Googled (like you advised someone else to do about a different subject) Automotive Communities and avoided the whole conversation to start with. I'm beyond sure that you know what a fan of a brand or model of automobile is and that there are groups of them, and that they are on the internet as well as off. I know from your past posts that you are more than a little familiar with youtube. So your "It never occurred to me to label a community where people drive, which is all communities I know, as "automotive" " comes off a bit false and deliberately awkward and contrived.

Your final response was overly defensive for someone who kept the line going quite a bit longer than was genuine (and by someone who was truly upset at being the butt of a joke...).

I did however find some interesting advice that you offered to someone on a different thread which I have found quite useful at times.

The advice people give you usually does work. Maybe one or more of these tips will help. It's the best I've got and seen work with many people:

1) Join activities to find like minded people. Put yourself in places where you will have the opportunity to socialize.
2) Start small (hello) and keep building s-l-o-w-l-y (regular conversations) from there by showing an interest in the other person.
3) Make sure there is something that you have to offer such as an interest, a sense of humor, topics of conversation like some good news items.
4) Work on your social skills and if you don't know what that means, try googling things like "conversation" "friendship" "social skills" and the like. Things like listening skills are quite valuable for making and keeping friendships.
5) When your relationship has progressed enough with good conversation and time (think of how Sims build friendships), then suggest a casual and mutually enjoyable activity.
6) Always remember that to have a friend, you have to be a friend.
7) Be positive. This doesn't mean falsely positive, but keep things upbeat as you try to get to know someone. No one wants to hang out with people who are negative.

Best of luck to you!

Add to that;
8) You have to be willing to get what you give and to accept gracefully when someone catches on and calls you on it.

No one intended to offend your sensibilities, least of all me. I really don't like to be played by someone acting like a moron when they're actually an intellectual snob watching their own manipulation of others. Now, you can really go with the whole huffy wide eyed innocent 'I just didn't know and really only wanted an explanation' if you want. But I gotta tell ya that anybody that goes back and reads your posts on other threads and other lists is gonna know BS when they see it and won't like it any better than I do. And that's why I think you're 'playing' me.

And you are wholly and totally right about one thing---End of Story.
