I am currently in the process of trying to create a Sims 3 Machinima - I have everything planned out and all, I just need to build the characters and places and what not.

The only problem I'm having are the graphics. I want to be able to record in HD quality and FRAPS gives me that but it makes my game lag so much. I have the settings on low/medium because even though my laptop can handle high, it's so slow. Well, my laptop isn't a gaming laptop as the score is 3.2 or something like that. I'm surprised that it hasn't even crashed yet. I am currently saving up for an Asus desktop tower (I have a Toshiba Satellite C655 S5132) so that I can play the Sims 3 with better quality and what not but until then, I won't really have much options. So, please, I ask you, please do not say "get a better computer". I get it.

Okay, although I noticed that FRAPS was lagging so much, the quality was great but there were still graphics that were a bit stuttery or pixely around the edges.

Below, is a video that I just randomly recorded. Hopefully, you'll get a better understanding.

Now that you've seen the video, do think that quality is fine? Should I just look into another program like Bandicam?

Uhhhh.... this is wrong section to be asking this. This section is for already created objects/sims/houses/pets/mods that you want to get feedback on that you plan on uploading here.

I have no idea if there is another section on this site that can help you with your problem.

Sorry, if I misplaced the thread. I wasn't sure where to place it... D: Thanks, monca, I'll look into the forum section. (:

I think this is a fine place for this if your looking for some feedback on the quality. If you need some help with your game and the specs, then you'd want to go to Help. But modding discussion most certainly isn't the place. =)

The actual picture quality looks OK (though slightly blurry), but I see you're getting that sort of lagging/jerkiness that one gets when recording at too high a definition for one's system capabilities. You might want to wait until you get your new computer to start making your machinimas, because you'll probably just end up frustrated trying to do it with your current system specs. (I say this from past frustrating experience, ha ha.)

Try the "Movies Tutorials and Hints/Tips" section of the "Sims Creativity" forum: http://www.modthesims.info/forumdisplay.php?f=591 . Looks like there are some threads there that might help you, or you could start your own thread if you don't find an answer already there.
