Hi ya! I just got this game and the pirates and nobles yesterday for Christmas, and it is great fun. But, I'm a little confused. I've never played the Sims 3 so I have no idea how the Social interactions truly work, and it's really hard to get them up.
In Sims 2, I could joke, joke, joke and they would never get bored, and I could easily bring up their friendship. However, in this game, I have to joke, do another action, another action, another action- What is the rotation to where I can start back at the top? I thought it might be every 3-4 interaction, but I'm unsure. I was hoping someone had a better bit of information about it. Thanks =D

as far as i know all of the interactions appear under their menu, perhaps I am misunderstanding what exactly you are asking?

If you use two of the same social interactions one after another, its an unsuccessful social, and you get the red negatives. How many interactions can I do before going back to the one I started with. Sorry if I confused you.

i doubt there is a right answer, sorry. ive done 2 to more before redoing the first interaction, sometimes it doesnt hit other times it does. i can only say go through the entire social wheel cause the animations on a lot of them are funny

i forgo using social interactions and just drag the relationship bar to full and go on my way. i only interact purposefully when I am about to execute, marry, or conceive a child.

Where's the fun in that? Meh, I'd rather not execute or marry a child, but what about all the little interactions? Anyway, Lupin there are quite a few interactions that you can use. Use all the friendly ones.

haha you can't marry children! (well, you can, but why would you? Children are annoying as hell) and I have other concerns that have nothing to do with making nice-nice with NPC's

Hey, can you execute them by feeding them to the pit? I never tried that.

nope, you've gotta have grim's core mod and use a debug interaction to kill them off. perhaps one of the wonderful modders will add children to the script so they can be executed like adults.

Traits modify this a bit too much to give a definitive answer. Friendly and eloquent sims will have an easier time getting the bar up with friendly and trait interactions and might be able to get away with repeating some of these interactions a little more often. Though the only real reason to want to redo an interaction is either if A) It gets a double plus increase instead of a single plus or B) It's short but gets the same plus as the longer interactions (like chat).
Jokester sims will get more benefit out of using a lot of humor and trait interactions so focus less on the friendly ones with them... you'll want to use a few friendly interactions at first to establish a base relationship though... I've found that jokes don't tend to go over well with npcs when you're starting from strangers.
The NPCs' traits will modify this too. There's an awful lot of misanthrope npcs out there and half of the interactions seem to piss them off. I really hate it when I have to woo a misanthrope npc, or do a lot of friendly interactions with them for a quest because they're downright annoying. "You're finding me irresistable eh? How about a first kiss?" "GRUMBLE GRUMBLE ME HATE KISS! Now I like you less!" "Oh god and I have to make a baby with this person?!" Sometimes cheating is justified. ;-)
I find the best strategy for a non-cheating approach to npcs is just to queue up a lot of interactions. Get to know --> Discuss state of kingdom --> ask about health --> discuss art --> chat --> get to know (etc) jokes are better for jokester npcs and once you establish a rapport you'll want to stick with humorous interactions since that'll build the "NPC thinks you're being funny... npc thinks you're being hilarious... npc thinks you're going to kill him with laughter (or whatever) mood

Yeah that's what I've been doing. I just wondered because sometimes, I'm in a hurry to get the interactions up. I want to explore other aspects of the game, and while I like socializing, I wanted to do more, and I had to get that bard or whatever up to friendship. I get along with the builder better than that girly-boy bard. =D Ty for the information! I've been playing this like crazy since I got it.

You only have to do one different social in between; so for example you can do Get To Know, some other social, Get To Know, some different social, Get To Know, blah blah blah etc.; and this will not give the red unsuccess on the Getting To Know.

sims get umad if you repeat the same interaction more than once consecutively and more than... five times? in total. it's stupid for interactions like joke n' stuff but generally it's a good feature...
