Not possible, but you can do it with Twallans Debug mod. Must be done in EIG with a special "Make-sim"-sim or in live game. More info about this here:

Just to let you know, rabbithole renames don't seem to be saved on a world level, so once you exit EIG the renames will be lost. I can't find a way to make them stick in the world file (as the info seems to be stored in the game save), so it does not seem possible to have a world with custom rabbithole names.
If anyone knows a way though, I'd be glad to know!

I have not tried it yet: but clone it and rename the clone.

That would mean that you have a custom rabbithole though, High Plains Gamer- so people who play the world would need to install that custom item. It seems a shame to have a clone of an object (especially a rabbithole, which would be subject to breaking when the game is updated) just for the sake of having it named differently, when there is a means to effectively rename once the world is in play.

Well, the OP has his answer: it can't be done. Or, at least, no one knows how to do it.
There are lots of game behaviours people don't like. Those behaviours typically cannot be changed in game. That's why players mod their game. If someone does not want to use mods, they have to play the game as made by EA.
