View Full Version : Periodic Freezes During Gameplay

This seems to be a common issue with certain people and I have researched all of the posts pertaining to my mutual issue. This seems to only affect my current save game (details below).

All throughout my game, at different speeds and times with no specific action triggering it, my game will freeze temporarily (ranging from 2 real life seconds to 45 real life seconds). The plumbob, ambience, and any other movement will still continue, but my Sims and the time will freeze. This makes it very difficult to play because it happens often to little.

As required in the rules, I must state what I have done:
Regarding the Sims 3 Game Problem wiki page (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Game_Problem), I deleted my cache, removed custom content, and removed my user files. The first two had no effect whatsoever; but when I removed my user files, and created a brand new savegame, the issue seemed to not occur. I now think that I may have to do something specifically to my save game.

In addition, I have also done the following: Used Process Manager to determine if my Sims 3 game was having an issue with a specific .package file, removed all .package files from my mods and cleared my cache, removed both all my .package files and custom content and cleared my cache, tried the issue in different households on the same savegame (still persisted), installed AwesomeMod temporarily (still persisted), restarted my computer SEVERAL times, used a third-party program (not sure if allowed to name) to boost my computer for gaming, used the same third-party program to defrag and free used memory, popped the lid off my computer to air out the insides, and used CFF Explorer to tick and untick the App can handle >2GB address space on the TS3W.exe file.

Basically, this game seems to be more trouble then its worth

I would really like to save my savegame because I worked from partner to wife, worked up to CEO in my business career, and bought a really fancy house. Please gave me any information you can.

Sincerely, swrain.

Additional Information: This has not happened when I first bought my game. This has started recently and quite puzzles me.

:alarm: System Specifications are attached.

If the problem only happens in one game, then the problem is somewhere in that game. If you've played that game for a long time, the neighborhood has grown. Now there is more for it to be handling, especially when everyone gets 50 memories of going to the park. You might just be suffering from bloat- induced lag. This link might help http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Intermittent_Freezes

I have actually looked at that page and no dice. Is there any way to clear memories?

I got the mod that limits them, but the damage seems to already be done.

I've let it rest for awhile to see if the issue was gone and no dice.

I was thinking if I were to make a new save game (Third time, EA, come on) could I copy the sims and their household to the second save game? Would their job/skills be affected?

Alright, well I decided to try something. I copied the lot, including the household, to a new Sunset Valley. So far it hasn't happened. I got to keep my occupation status in addition to their items, traits, and status. The only thing that I don't have unfortunately is the relationships with the friends. I suppose that means I have to start all over. That's really fine to me. My only issue is I do NOT know what caused the issue nor how to prevent it from happening again. I will try to use the Memory modder so the town doesn't grow all crazy again. This game really isn't that stable.

If anyone has any suggestions for causing the memory issue not to reoccur, my ears are MORE than open.

i had this problem of freezing all the time.everything would be ok ( trees moving, music etc) except my sims wouldnt move.i could'nt find anyone that could solve my problem.
i found my own solution...heres what i did. first i started my game (obviously eh) when it finished loading up my family i went to options on the left, the first part that comes up is for your graphics.
now i put everything that was listed there to medium except for edge smoothing which i turned off then i saved my game, quit it and restarted it.
i've had no problems since...hope it helps. :-) i assume if everything there is too high it causes problems with game play...but then it also does the same if everything is too low!

I had the same thing happen to me and it was very frustrating.

I fixed it by downloading Nraas Overwatch Mod and using the reset everything option (or something along those lines) when clicking on city hall.

It cleaned up all stuck vehicles and sims and some other things too, but since then I havn't had the problem. I hope this helps.

Is there any way to clear memories?Twallan's MasterController (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController) can remove duplicate memories, photoless memories, and all memories. It can also disable memory creation entirely. You can access MasterController by clicking on the Town Hall, a Computer, or a Sim.

To disable memory creation:
NRaas / MasterController / Settings / Allow Memory Creation

To remove memories:
NRaas / MasterController / Sim / Intermediate / Remove Memories
