View Full Version : Need Help With My Wishing Well Mods

I really -- I mean, REALLY -- got tired of having the NPCs constantly hogging the wishing well at the town square at all hours of the day and night, making it difficult for player characters to use it and to interact with the NPCs. So I decided to do something about it.

My first attempt, a mod to make wishing at the well non-autonomous, worked beautifully. My later attempts, to make drawing water from the well and listening to the echo in the well, got rid of NPCs using the well, but had the undesired side-effect of making it impossible for player characters to do these actions as well. I changed the same tag in all three files (and ONLY that tag), changing a false to true in each case. Can anyone take a look at these mods and figure out what's going wrong with the drawing water mod and the echo mod?

Thanks to anyone who can help! I love my new quiet town square but dread having to quit and pull the mods if I should have to use the well for a quest. It's already a pain to have to send the player characters to town to buy water to make (whatever-it's-called; mortar?) from the ancient powder, but it's easier than shutting down twice.

You have both 'No autonomous well water' and 'no listen to echo at well' set to "true" for <quest or autonomous only>
I haven't checked it in game. Try changing them to false and see if it works.

That seems to have done the trick. Thank you! Sometimes another pair of eyes is needed; I don't know how I managed to do that and then forget about it. :-)

I gave them a test like you asked. There were problems: 1) my hero could not draw water from the well, 2) some of the obligations my hero had could not be completed.. it seemed to remove interaction with the advisor for some reason. I have removed them from my game now so I can use it normally. Too bad they did not work those townies by the well are certainly a pain.

Are the files updated then? Cause this would be awesome to have. It's their favorite thing to do there.

Too bad, it would be a good thing to have if the bugs could be worked out of it.

It was already answered how to fix it. She said it worked. I had thought she would upload the working version, but she didn't.
Elise if you're still around and you don't mind sharing, it would be much appreciated :)

Yeah, I saw that. From how I read it I thought the downloads were updated to the fixed versions, sadly they were not.

I'd like to modify her files, but I can't figure out how. Is there something equivalent to SimPE for Sims Medieval? Or is there some other editor program I can view these files in? Even a text editor would be fine. (Notepad shows garbage.) I've been searching online for answers to this for several hours now, and have found no information.

If I modify these files I would be happy to post the changed versions here. I just can't figure out how to get into the files to do it.
