After my old computer crashed and burned, I now have a new computer - naturally, the first thing I wanted to do was reload my old Sims 3 games (and look to purchasing the EPs that I've missed out on along the way...)

So I reinstalled the base game and Ambitions, and the FL Stuff and D & H-T stuff packs and... the moment I tried to load a neighbourhood, the computer restarted. I uninstalled everything and re-installed the base game only and now it simply persists in restarting the computer on entering CAS. The CAS screen remains for a few seconds and then... boom, hello Windows start-up!

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I'm afraid to say that your new computer is definitely not up to playing TS3. I can't judge the CPU properly because I'd need the model name (Xeons come in both single core versions, which would make yours mediocre; and dual core versions, which would make yours great), you have less than half the required amount of RAM, and the graphics card is exceedingly weak - it's listed in the bottom half of the "low end graphics cards" benchmark list here (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=Quadro+NVS+285), for example.

Since it's running XP, I assume you bought it second hand? That could also impact performance, if it's getting old and the components are wearing out.

You can try these suggestions: Game Help:Onboard Graphics. However, I'm afraid to say that even following all of those tips probably won't get you to a point at which you can play TS3 on that computer, certainly not with EPs.
