Downloads won't work, have followed Fracking Idiots guide... I'm puzzled!

I just got a new computer, and installed my copies of The Sims 2 and Nightlife. After getting some custom content (skintones and whatnot), I opened the game, eager to have pretty Sims... but no custom content whatsoever. I enabled custom content, disabled the dialogue that shows up at the beginning of the game in Nightlife, moved the downloads folder out and started up bodyshop, and backed up my files. I installed the game in a custom directory, C:\Games\Sims2 and ...\Sims 2 Nightlife. Could that be the root of my problem?

It shouldn't be, unless that's also where you're trying to put the Downloads folder. The downloads don't go into the same directory as your program files; they go with your game files in the My Documents folder. The only way to have the game files installed anyplace except C: My Documents is to move My Documents to another drive. Which is what I did and it works fine.

I figured it out... For some reason I had a My Documents/Sims 2 folder then a My Documents/EA Games/Sims 2 folder. They went in the second one. Fixed with a simple copy and paste! Thanks anyway.
