How can I edit relationships so a [teen] daughter can mary the father? I know the title sounds weird... sorry about that :p.

Any way heres the situation: I was making a character from a show but she is a teen... and the clothes I needed were only available for teens so... I had to make me the father -.-. So how can I...

Remove the father/daughter relationship
Have it so the girl stays a teen but is able to mary me :luff:

You'll need mods for this. Several are available that will allow you to edit relationships. SimPE is an editing program that allows you to edit the packages, including the relationship ties, from outside the game; SimBlender is an object that allows you to make changes on the fly from within the game; others exist, but those two are the most commonly used here.

A number of mods permit adult/teen romantic interactions. You'll have to do research to see which one would work best for you. InTeen and ACR are the most popular. Be aware that these are big complex comprehensive mods and you should choose with care, especially if you have a bunch of other mods and hacks installed that might conflict with them.

Well I managed to find a work-aroind for the father/duaghter issue...

1) Make a family of three (1 daughter, 1 father, and 1 roomie (me :3).
2) Kill the father (put a box around him and etc.)
3) [End Result] No family ties :D

As for getting the two to marry each other that will be more of a challenge... I tried the mods. you suggested to me but they are kind of confusing...

*EDIT*
@Peni Griffin I am thinking about abandoning the idea of the teen marrying an adult. I am thinking about making Chi (currently the teen) into a young adult and have her engaged. Thoughts?

The only way to make her a young adult is to send her to University and she will only be a young adult until she graduates or drops out, and she will not be able to actually marry till then; but if that suits you and you like playing University, or don't know because you haven't tried it, it should work fine.

I was pretty intimidated by SimPE when I first downloaded it, too, but take it a little at a time and it's not that hard. There's a tutorial for editing family ties that I used to be linked to, but that was before the computer crash and I'd have to search for it again.

Well today I have been busy digging all of my old cd out of the closet and installing all of them :D. I am looking into a few other mods for the games and also collecting more custom clothing ^_^

:!:EDIT::!:

Is there a way to allow adult where teen clothing? I thought there was a mod. or something that did it...

Adults cannot wear teen clothes because they are completely different body sizes. If you try, there will be neck gaps and horrible things happening to the skeleton. However, Young adults, adults and elders can all wear the same clothes and you can make them available for those three ages with Wardrobe Wrangler.

Well I guess having adults where teen clothing is off the table -.- I am a bit annoyed that all clothing I like is available for teens but not adults... as for the suggestion of young adults... I would like to but I want to be able to play outside of Uni.

I believe there were mods for that, too. Something about Uni in the home neighborhood?

The option of putting clothes originally made for teens onto adults doesn't have to be off the table if you learn how to make your own clothes. People do conversions all the time.

You probably should start systematically exploring this site and other major sims2 sites, asking on WCIF, and so on. Almost everything you could want is out there and the rest it is possible to learn to do for yourself if you want it enough.

@Peni well I have been messing around with body shop and it easier than I thought it would be. At first it looked a bit intimidating but I could not have been further off lol. Right now I am trying to make an arm band of sorts...

Ignoring the logo you can see the blue arm band I am referring too... I cropped that so I will show the full image...

I am also making the outfit for the wife (outfit can be seen in the link above)... I will be modifying cloudlessnights Hogwarts outfit... (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=235001) to make it :) - I have already dropped the user a PM so...

In SimPe you can change a teen to adult without changing their appearance. They do talk like an adult but there might be a way to change that too. When the character file is opened the life stage is the first option available. You can also do sims surgery on an adult and make them appear as a teen.

Surgery? where do I go for that? :)

Open the SimPE program.

Tools>Neighbourhood>Neighbourhood browser>Select your hood

Tools>Neighbourhood>Sim Surgery>select the ugly patient and the new look sim. Click surgery then change their name, gender or life stage, if you want to.

You want to also download theo's alternative sim surgery. With this you can load a sim from a different hood. So make any sim you like in a junk neighbourhood and load it across with alt sim surgery and change the appearance of a sim in your real neighbourhood. There are no pics to select from but it will be the last file in the characters folder (since it was the last character made). If you're planning on doing this a lot or in bulk (since it is awesome that is a distinct probability) you might keep a record in a notepad of your junk neighbourhood sims.

If anything is flashing blue they just need to look in the mirror. I don't know why that works but it does. Once this didn't work and I had to remove the necklace from the sim.

Just so you're aware if you did that they would no longer be a teen, they'd be an adult. They won't get teen jobs or go to school or anything else teens do. But they will look exactly like a teen.

Ya :) that's what I need. I need the teen body for the clothes and for the clothes to fit BUT I need them to have adult privileges to be - well adults :)

EDIT:

Would this work?

I don't know about the cheat way. I tried to make a pregnant teen once and the result was total horror show. No face, hunch back with a blue thing floating above their head. After bannishing it from my lot it still shocked me each time it turned up somewhere.

Changing a teen into an adult lifestage or replacing an adult with a teen body with SimPE is a sure thing.

I also find sims often don't age/regress well either, they can look great as adults but freaky as teens, so I prefer to fix them in bodyshop then import them.

Alright so I have been messing around in simpe... however when I load my sim (Chi who is now a young adult) is loaded as a elder :/ and I am having trouble modifying her... is there a more in depth tutorial? (basically an idiot proofed one :p)

Young adults are different to other sims. I'm guessing that is the problem. If you open a character file in simpe and change the lifestage it should work 100% of the time. Make sure you save. Avoid young adults. They are basically adults in appearance and functions anyway so I'm not sure why you'd want to.

Sidenote: If doing this with special NPCs backup beforehand as some don't function after reaging and some can cease working even if you revert.

Actually you should probably backup anyway.

Ghost sdoj

You should -always- make a backup when you use Simpe. Even if you are not doing anything more than reading a file that you don't plan to edit, and are never going to touch that Commit button anyway, you should make a backup. Then when you accidentally save after your house catches fire and your entire legacy family burns to death because someone decided to do the OMG it's a Fire! dance in the doorway that the firefighter is trying to get in through, you can salvage something more recent than last year.

And if you are planning to edit anything, one slip in the wrong spot can kill your game.

(Flashing blue accessories are looking for the rest of themselves, and need to be reminded that it doesn't exist. There is a permanent fix for them.)

I'm refering to existing accessories. It's something to do with both Sim Surgeries. Maybe because the characters are created outside the game. Just looking in the mirror "completes" the sim somehow which only takes a second. You can make non-playables selectable to do this or use lot debugger flashing blue fix.

I truly hope you (or any one else for that matter) do not think I am that stupid... of course I back up my Sims 2 folder on a regular basis. Whenever I add more packages I make a copy of The Sims 2 folder... or if I am messing wit mods. I make a back up in case I mess up too much :p. My point? I am not an idiot so please do not treat me like one :bunny:

EDIT: sorry if I came off as being an a*s but I tend to speak my mind a bit too often...

Uh I hate NPCs - granted they do make the game more interesting but I do not like how they want to come over everyday. Or how they freely walk inside your home -.- when ever they want.

Easy for you to say, but I think Ghost sdoj's feelings on the matter are the more relevant, as she was the target of that completely unnecessary rant.

YumiLovesMe, that was uncalled for. No one here can possibly know your level of computer knowledge and experience, especially since you've only recently begun posting. Advice given is intended to be helpful, not insulting, and for you to take it as the latter is ridiculous. Consider that perhaps you are the one with a bias that says someone who doesn't know how to back up their game, or the importance of doing so, must be "stupid", rather than simply new to all this.

Yumi didn't write anything offensive. She/he just doesn't want to be thought of as stupid and was expressing that. And Ghost sdoj wasn't implying anyone is stupid. Simple misunderstanding that happens 6000 times a minute in cyberspace*. I was merely being diplomatic. And you are the level headed mediator reading a little too much into this. No ill will was intended all round. Hugs.

Look I said soemthing that was probably uneeded - sorry. There is no need for a thread regarding a video game to turn into a flame war about intellignece of others. I don't know how to hold grudges. :D

It's wonderful that we have someone who doesn't think that it's possible to have too many backups. It's a refreshing change from all the ones who say "I know I should have made a backup first, but I didn't. Now what can I do?" And I'm sorry that my comment sounded insulting.
