View Full Version : The Old Pets and Later Bleed-Through Issue

Does anyone know whether that old, nasty, ugly bleed-through issue occuring in Pets and later expansion, pertaining to accessories, was ever officially addressed or fixed in any way?

There was a discussion quite some long while back, as well as a suggested "fix" here:

Unfortunately, if the accessory is actual eye glasses or sun glasses, changing "SimMaterial", to "SimStandardMaterial" on the lenses of actual glasses, does "fix" the bleed-through but borks the appearance of the actual eye glasses lens.

For instance, if settings for a medium dark blue lens with a fairly dark opaqueness have been applied, they no longer appear anywhere near as they did before, but as very, very dark, nearly black, with only the very faintest hint of transparancy.

Changing the value in the stdMatUntexturedDiffAlpha field (for more or less opaqueness) no longer seems to have any effect at all with "SimStandardMaterial" set in lieu of "SimMaterial".

I have thus far only made one set of glasses, and the frame of those was such that the bleed-through was apparently unoticable, or near impossible to see if it was there.

But now I have an entirely different kind of glasses arrangement wherein both the frame and the lens appearance is crucial, and any bleed-through is just horrible looking on it.

I have the base game and everything up to and including both Pets and Seasons, but nothing beyond.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
