View Full Version : Lunar Lakes Rabbit Holes - replacement for cc rugs?

I noticed that the Lunar Lakes rabbit holes are just big clunky doors. I was wondering if they were small enough to put inside a building? They might make good rabbit hole rug replacements. As the rugs haven't been updated in a while, I'm leery of using them. However, if the doors work it would be nice not to have to update them as they would be in game content. Anyone tried using the Lunar lakes inside custom made buildings?

I tried it, but they don't work very well unfortunately. For one thing, they are taller than one story so you have to either still put them in a basement or build a two-story structure to put them in. I was disappointed because I was also hoping they would allow us more RH customization.

Me too, Tangie. I had really hoped for room sized, maybe 3x3 and I could really build some neat looking community lots. I wonder why EA will not do that, knowing simmers love making their own community lots. [ending rant now]
Sigh.

I see a disagree on this....that means you don't have LL....the RH's
in LL are small buildings...not doors or rugs....

The buildings in Lunar Lakes are rabbit holes.

Yes, they're buildings, but small enough to put in a basement. I deleted my RH rugs after I got LL from the Store a few days ago. Before RH rugs I put normal RH buildings in the basements, but it was not always practical, because these buildings were often actually larger than the lot itself. LL holes would fit well into any basement without creating routing issues.

Thanks for letting me know you do this. When you put them in the basement, do you have to make a two story basement? Or do they fit in a one story?
Just remember -- they aren't really doors or rugs or BUILDINGS either. They are just pixels. Nobody said they were rugs. I asked if they could be replacements for the rabbit hole rugs (Which you could argue I guess that they were two dimentional buildings or something... ) that many people use. They are made to resemble doors and you are supposed to pretend that they are going in the domes instead of just standing inside the door. So they are pretend doors.
I didn't want to get into an argument about whether or not the rabbit holes were doors or buildings or womrats. I am asking because this is the first time I've seriously considered dropping cash on a store item. And I don't want the moon landscape. I only want the rabbit holes, but if they can't be used as CC rug replacements, I don't want the pack. So I want to make sure they are functional before I shell out the cash.

Kewpie: the way I've seen it explained, the building will look like it's clipping through the ceiling of a single level basement but when you page up to the ground floor it won't be showing through.

Maybe you could put a hidden room marker inside the first floor of the building . Actually, you wouldn't even need to put a floor on the first level because with a hidden room marker no one could see it anyway. That way the top wouldn't clip through to the first floor anyway, and even if it did you wouldn't see it in-game.
Of course that will mess up the price of the lot, so if you're into buying community lots that might not be a great solution.
I didn't try this at the time because when I was experiementing I was trying to make the inside of the building useful, with tables and bookshelves because I was trying this with the book store portal. When I discovered that I had to leave a large hole in the middle of the floor or build a two-story structure, I was disappointed and just moved on to some other project. Which I tend to do a lot anyway. :D
Totally agree, Lewisb40. I wish they would just make one or more generic RH markers or come up with a method that you could just program the building you wanted to do whatever you wanted. BIG sigh.

Ooh. One RH marker, like the Rabbithole doors, and have a shiftclick function to set what rabbithole it is.
How come we don't have THAT option? That'd be genius.

That's one thing that shows EA doesn't get players at all. Sometimes they act like we primarily play with their stuff rather than making our own stuff.

You shouldn't be. Unless EA edits the way the RH's work, the rugs and doors will still work regardless of patch level. The last time EA edited the RH's was when Pets was released, and Jynx already updates his rugs to be compatible for Pets.
