I added a downtown town to My sims 2 neighborhood ever since then the whole neighborhood crashes. It is the Neighborhood that is the problem because I can load other neighborhoods. I would like to delete the downtown and see if that works but I don't know how I could since the neighborhoods always crashes.
Any advice?

I don't suppose that you have a backup from before you attached the downtown? If so, then restoring from your backup is your best option.

Is this the standard shipped Downtown, a custom downtown that you created from an SC4, or a downloaded downtown subhood?

It was a custom created downtown from the button on top of the neighborhood screen. What do you mean backup? Using system restore?

You should make a regular backup of the hoods you play. That means you do a copy paste of the neighbourhood folder to your desktop. Then when something happens-like this, you cut out that entire hood and paste in your backup that you made before attaching the downtown. If you are not making backups you should start. I also have a full back up of the entire Sims 2 folder on an external hard drive just in case something happens to my computer and I can’t access those smaller hood backups. Which reminds me I should do another full backup before playing much further. :)

This is what I mean by "backup" and "restore":

Thanks soo much. I wonder if there is anyway to remove the downtown?

As far as I can tell, there is no way to remove the downtown unless you can access the neighborhood. Even then, removing the downtown will probably not solve your problem, since the sims will remain behind.

After backing up your save game, you could always try just deleting the downtown subhood package (<neighborhood prefix>_Downtown.package?), but there's no guarantee that this will work or be safe.

I may have to uninstall and reinstall. Now I can't even run the create a sim screen with out it crashing.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is rarely the correct solution. It will only help if your installation has been corrupted somehow.

First, you should do the other steps in the Game_Help:Game_Problem FAQ, like removing all of your CC. You should also provide us with your system specs:

Thankyou I will try all those solutions.

If I I remove the contents of the download folder and replace them a small amount amount at a time will it destroy custom made families I have once I put the downloads back In? Sorry if that is a silly question.

I am going to print out the info for finding the problem files sift thru all my files since my sims2 is on another computer than this one entirely.

All you have to do to prevent the troubleshooting process from messing up your families is follow the very first step in the FAQ and back up the neighborhood. Once you isolate the problem and know what to do to fix it, you can restore the backup and everything will be intact (except things that were using any bad CC you found and removed, which will have something else substituted for that bit.)

All you have to do to not triple post is use the "edit" button.
