Hello all I'm back yet again,

I've been gradually turning over to TS3 over the years. I'm running on:

Windows 7 64bit
1TB Harddrive, partitioned into 4 drives.
All Sims 2 + 3 are located on my F:
F: contains 551GB's.
Blah Blah Blah..

I have 8GB's of RAM.

I've always used the "Manage System Size" settings, but I'm trying to find ways of decreasing load times. I don't know much about increasing the custom Initial and Maximum size so if anyone can shine some light on me I'd appreciate it. I know 8GB = 8000-something?MB but is that what my Maximum should be or....? What about initial? I heard of the 8000 x 1.5 = 12000 so is that my Max? Do I set this custom for my C: (OS installed) AND my F:..? Also, I don't mind if it's too large/unneeded amount for TS3 since I do a lot of work in Adobe CS5 Suite, Lightwave, and Maya 3D programs. Thanks in advance. :)

I looked into this a year or so ago and I think the bottom line was that increasing it to the recommended setting is best. System managed doesn't set it to the recommended setting iirc.

You will see more of a benefit on low performing systems, and may see no benefit on high performance systems though it certainly doesn't decrease performance. If you have the free hard drive space, there's no reason not to do it.

You set it once for the whole system. You should only set the paging file on your main C: hard drive. Your OS should be installed there too.

In my "Virtual Memory" window (Control Panel -> System Properties -> Advanced Tab -> Virtual Memory 'Change...' button.) I set a Custom size for virtual memory with both Initial size and Maximum size being the same as the Recommended paging file size that Windows recommends at the bottom of the window. Mine says "Recommended: 6142MB" so I set "Initial size (MB): 6142" and "Maximum size (MB): 6142" on my C: drive, and nothing on my other drive(s).
