Always other Sims?

I made a family at least hunderd times. And that's not exaggerate. In my current hood I will make those family again, because I like them (at this time I am playing with their ancestors). I like how they live and got children and just be happy.

But this time it is different: I hope it will be the last time I create them. It's the last try for them, the last time I will see the parents die of old age, the last time they will hug eachother and kiss and love.

So, how do you play? Is there another one who created a family so many times, or do you like just to play with always other Sims?

I keep marrying off Julien Cooke(Freetime EP)I have gotten too gen 4 with him and his family.But I get bored quick start a new hood and start all over with him again lol.Sometimes I will make filler sims or marry of a townie or 2.Really depends on your playing style I guess.

I try to break out of the boredom by making sets of randomized families, and playing them-it's interesting to see what one can come up with when you don't try to repeat the same types of sims every time.

But I've played various versions of Pleasantview many times, with all the characters.

I repeatedly play with my fandom sims a lot because I have a bunch of challenges just for them. Other than them, I haven't been tempted to play the same sims over and over except for a few Pleasantview families who get played in both my uberhood and (Un)Pleasantview.

I am trying to cut down on CAS sims in my game. In Middleground, most to all playables in the neigborhood are born in game or originally townies. There is one CAS sim who is dead (the founder), both the CAS townies I created are now incorporated in the Fleurada family, and I made about six CAS teens to set as downtownies.

I use sims from my Savage family in all neighborhoods. I spend a lot of time making my sims in CAS and then breeding them in game.So I tend to recycle and reblend their genetics into multiple neighborhoods.

When I first start my game I start with a clean neighborhood and always make a couple in CAS and have them start in college. Then I look in the bin and any families that I'm not interested in will be turned into townies and any that I am interested in will move in to play. After that I don't make anymore sims and they all usually born in game or I move in/marry the townies. :)

I've played in loads of different ways. I used to play legacy style (though never for very long!), creating a founder in CAS. Sometimes I make whole families in CAS. Sometimes I make CAS sims based on me and my family and friends. Sometimes I make a load of randomised CAS families and populate a 'hood with them then play in rotation. Sometimes I play the premades, often in an uber-megahood. At the moment my main neighbourhood consists of all the Pleasantview playables and the sim bin sims as playables. I plan to add some Strangetown and Bluewater Village sims/families as time passes - just my favourite ones :-) (Malcolm Landgraab IV, Ophelia Nigmos & Johnny Smith, Chester Gieke, maybe a few others). I'm playing in rotation, with a whole bunch of "rules", so it's a different way to play for me and I'm looking forward to it! :-)

I hardly ever create actual families. :lol: When I start a new 'hood, I create usually around 5 male starter Sims, all with randomized appearances and randomized names. I don't make any plans for them, just let them loose in a new, empty (except for townies) hood, and then let more randomness happen. I create males because 1) I prefer Sim men, for some reason and 2) I'm kinda a traditionalist in that I pass down the mens' surnames through the generations. I like to see how the families mix and mingle (or not) as the generations pass. I usually end up with some really snarled family trees after about the third generation, but it's fun. I've never played the Maxis pre-made neighborhoods or the Sims who populate them, although I do have quite the liking for some of the "standard" townies, namely my Unholy Triumvirate -- Komei Tellerman ('cuz he's an endearingly unattractive redhead), Ben Long (THE NOSE!!!), and Joe Carr ('cuz he's goofy). :lol: Oftentimes I make those three playable and stick 'em in a household together. Fun ensues when one or more of them ACR-randomizes as gay. :lol: Fun especially ensues when all three randomize as gay or bi and I turn off jealousy in their household.

I dont create families ... I play the Maxis created and binned ones. I think its more interesting that way. I havent gotten yet to 2nd generations .... as my first generation is just going through college. So Don, Cassandra, Nina, Dina, etc are still going through adulthood. I like using Townies too for the interesting mix of genetics ... some of them are just odd looking but thats one of the fun parts of the game.

I always start with a single CAS sim in a clean neighborhood or a married couple. If I make a family that I know IRL such as me and my husband I'll add our daughter but other than that I never have CAS children. Then I allow those sims to expand their families, every once in a while adding another CAS sim into the neighborhood for new blood.
As for whether or not I play the same families in multiple neighbohoods I do recreate certian sims or couples in multiple neighborhoods but play them differently each time.

I'm now pretty hooked on Pleasantview. I love replaying them, but with a few exceptions I want to replay them as differently as possible. Things that are pretty consistent are moving the Oldies in with the Pleasants (Lilith gets a room that's barely larger then her bed) and Mortimer usually marries Dina (though one time Mortimer proposed while Dina was in aspiration failure and she turned him down). They're my own little parallel universes.

I like playing the premade playables and their descendants, with CAS Sims added as needed to round out the neighborhood. I play it like a small town. Most people know each other and everything is very entangled.

I always like playing with new sims when I set up a new 'hood: I find if I've gotten too far generation-wise with sims I like, unless I recreate them exactly I go "oh, this happened before" or "I really liked it when [this event that hasn't happened in this iteration] happened in a previous version" -- about the only time I do re-try the same sims is when I play the pre-made 'hoods and sims. I tend to use a random sim generator (http://www.mangaroo.com/sims2/randomizer_safe.php) by migamoo to see what kind of sims and families I'll end up with -- I don't always find every family interesting but generally I can think up information/backstory for those that I do find interesting.

After my initial batch of sims I don't usually make any new ones in CAS unless I either need to (for instance, to test out some rules when I've got sims who are a long way off being able to test them for me) or because of challenge rules (such as a Build-A-City challenge).

I hardly ever play premade Sims, in fact I've wiped all the premade hoods and made a horde of custom townies to go with my custom hoods and subhoods. My current Sim is Claire Thiessen, my absolute favourite. I've played with her a lot, but this is the first time I've started her off as a teen instead of an adult, so I could put her though university. She met Temperance Brennan (I called her that because she looks a lot like Emily Deschanel, I may even upload her as a celebrity Sim) while living in a rented house on campus, they fell in love, racked up as much cash as possible and moved into a palatial house together after graduating. This time, I plan to play Claire and Temperance right through to elderhood and death and get a full-blown legacy going.

I start new hoods playing by prosperity challenge rules (random number of families, random number of sims, random ages, aspirations etc.) though I have no intention of following the challenge past that point. That's the only time I use create-a-sim.

No, for me, it has been different families for each neighborhood, unless I did something wrong, then I just create the families again in a new hood, but, usually, I would create completely new sims. For my new neighborhood, Townie Place, I'm only using townies as playables, which is fun!
