I updated my game and now some of my custom objects are gone and my sims are black. Can someone tell me why this happened?! I deleted all my mods and switched to the updated ones and now not even my mods are working! I'm getting really angry because this happens with EVERY update and deletion of my CC. I'm sick of remaking my sims. I lose everything they've earned! And non of my mods are coming up and they are in the mods folder. And the mods folder is in the sims 3 folder. I don't know what more to do. I don't want to turn the game vanilla because i hate losing progress. I tried going to facebook for a fast answer. And normally some one would have already given me a answer. But because of Facebook's timeline most of the helpers have left v.v I HATE THE INTERNET!!!! Dumb updating. I swear, Why can't we go back to the GOOD webpages. And not these dumb updated ones -.- But anyways I just want my game back. I want my cc back.

Edit: I also downloaded some other mods. But they were minor and only changed a little game play not any scripts or anything. As well as a bunch of clothing. But nothing except things I installed in from the launcher, Will show up.

And I realized I put this in the wrong category. I am sorry but I realize that it is suppose to be in general/other.

Yes. I have tried to delete the caches. But it did not work sadly.

The black sims are due to skins they were using being removed.
I'm going to assume that if the resource.cfg had gone missing, or if you had suddenly lost everything in your Packages folder, you would have noticed when you were updating your mods. And your sims wouldn't be suddenly turning black if the CC had never worked. Is your system strong enough for the Sims? Remember that it's not as smoothly programmed as some other more intense games are, so it actually has higher requirements for a lower quality result. And if it's not strong enough you can end up having it quit after a while.

If it is, do you have a backup of your Documents/Sims 3 folder from just before you patched? Maybe switching that back in will restore everything. (Backup the updated mods before doing that, so you don't have to redownload in order to update them again.)

You might also want to check to be sure that the resource.cfg didn't get changed. I don't know why it would, but that would also stop package CC from working anymore.

I managed to get it working again. I don't know what I did exactly but I put all the mods in one folder called packages, And the resource file in no folder except the mods. Than when I opened my Sims I was expecting to have a "Insert disk" Popup on the game. But when It didn't I realized that Nraas mod no CD is working. So I went in cas and made a new Sim. Overall its working again. And my computer I know needs a little updating. But it plays Sims very smoothly. Unless I'm online aka simport. Than its all choppy.
