Hello everyone! First off, this site is amazing and I absolutely love everything that has to do it with it. I just have one minor question that might sound really dumb to you guys and girls but for me it's tough. I installed my Sims 3 game I just bought on my boyfriend's computer and registered it. If i want to install it on my computer, would the serial key work? Will I have all the custom content on my computer since I'll be logged in in the launcher?

Sorry for my choice of wording.

The games themselves are given 5 concurrent installs (you can have it on 5 machines.)

Store downloads, I'm not sure of the 'legality' ... my roommate and I "share" things tho... I'll log into his account on my machine, and he on mine to get the store stuff.

Peace

This may sound like a dumb question, but how are you limited to 5 concurrent installs? If you are installing from discs how does the disc know how many machines it is on? If you uninstall and reinstall for various reasons you could easily have more than 5 installations.

As far as I can tell, it doesn't count installs, it counts machines. If you go to the launcher, you can see an option to "de-authorize this machine" which I think you do if you are not planning to play the game anymore on one of your machines but you want to install it on a 6th machine. This makes me wonder though - it seems you'd have to play through the launcher AND be online for the game to know that you've already authorized 5 machines. Makes me wonder what good their security would do if you disabled the launcher and the ability of the game to detect whether or not you were online.

I am not suggesting people do this - it just makes me wonder if their security doesn't have some major holes in it.

I thought about the launcher after I posted, but if not online I can't see an obstacle to having the game on multiple machines. I suppose that this is not an issue until Showtime if you want to take advantage of the game's online features. I open my game without the launcher, and then have the option of logging in or not. the novelty of logging in and simporting wore off quickly.

This 5 machine authorization sounds like the security system of iTunes..

Exactly, and I suppose you could have an army of machines, as long as they were kept offline... You'd have to manually patch them tho.. with the correct version of the patch.
