I don't know what this would go under, sorry if this is the wrong category but hopefully someone can still help me because i'm desperate.

Anyways, PLEASE HELP!
I was playing with my family in Belladonna Cove and the game crashed so i restarted it and when i came back into the neighbourhood all families were gone as in my own families and the base game families. I restarted my computer and when the game loaded this time all families were restored so i thought it was a one off thing. I then loaded my recent family and they did not know each other at all. They had just returned from their honeymoon in Twikki Island and they do not know each other, their family or their friends and didn't have any memories, skills, personality traits, aspirations etc. This game has been going on for a while, i don't like to make a family and then just leave them, i create generations and my current family that i was playing with was part of those generations. Does anyone know what i can do to retrieve the relationships and everything? PLEASE? Everything was fine up until the game crashed. All custom content, the house, the pictures ... everything is still on the lot expect for the sims knowing each other and their family. I'll try anything! ahah please. thanks heaps.

Get the Sim Blender. You can fix them with that. It won't add memories, but the memories aren't really important to the sims anyway. (You can also manually fix them with SimPE, but it's generally safer to do it in-game if you can.)

Sim Blender is here: http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php?topic=20.0

I believe SimBlender is just the testingcheats in an object, so technically you doesn't have to download that to get the benefits; but the object does facilitate doing things that may not be intuitive in testingcheats if you're not familiar with it.
Links to information on using the testingcheats (sometimes carelessly called boolprop; but a lot of cheats start with boolprop):

http://www.modthesims.info/article.php?t=103926 - this is a downloadable article for reference, and a lot more detailed.

Memories can be added in SimPE - another intimidating download, sorry. SimPE can also be used to fix the relationships, but it's an external editing program

Presumably you didn't know to make a backup, or you'd have just restored from that. Always, always, always make backups before adding any new CC or making major changes to your game, and make regular backups on a schedule suitable to your playstyle (after a major event, once a week, once a rotation, whatever) so that you have a good copy of your neighborhood. To make a backup, open My Documents/EA GAmes/Sims2/Neighborhoods/ and find the neighborhood you wish to back up. If you're not sure, open the neighborhood, click on the storytelling folder in thumbnail view, and see what families appear in the pictures there. Copy the entire neighborhood folder to a separate location, preferably external to your computer so your neighborhood will be safe even if you have a system failure. Then, if a catastrophic failure occurs with which you prefer not to live, all you have to do is delete the existing copy and return the backup folder to this same location.
