The game lags a lot while switching from Live to Build or Buy Mode

Hi everyone! I've been playing TS3 quite awhile now, and I've noticed something significant.

I play a family of four members, two adults and two kids. My graphics options are set to medium. I run Win7 with 6 GB of RAM. But, it's a laptop.

Now, when I switch from Live to either Build or Buy Mode, the game starts to hang (like in The Sims 2 - when you'd become a vampire or a werewolf - that sort of hang). It takes for about half of minute until it fully loads the B Mode. Also, my laptop overheats when I switch between the Modes (the fans get really noisy).

The hang and the overheating lasts only for those (less than) 30 seconds. Everything from later on is okay (smooth, like nothing happened). Even when I switch from Build or Buy Mode back into Live Mode - there's absolutely no hang or overheating.

When I save the game, there's no overheating.

When I go into Edit Town Mode, there is a slight hang, but no overheating.

I do have a big house where I test those two options. But my, what the hello, does the game put everything I have in the house into my RAM or something? No pun intended.

Actually, I think it may attempt to put the entire neighborhood into RAM when you go to live mode. It's not very efficient. It's even less efficient if you have a lot of package CC.

We probably need to see system specs.
