Hiya :)

I was just wondering what happens to the photos in the storytelling album when the sims die or move house? Do they go with the sims or stay with the house?

Thanks :)

If they move the photos will go with the moving family. I donīt know what happens to them if all sims living on the lot dies though.

I think that, if the sim dies, you will not be able to access them ingame, but will be able to if you go to your storytelling folder in your neighborhood folder.

They move along with the sims to the new house. When a Sim dies the photos just stay. (But if it was the only sim on the lot, then I don't know) Unless you remove them yourself. Or cut them to copy them in a different location on your computer to save space on c:, like I do.

The photos can be accessed (and used in different households) by clicking the all-households tab (the + sign) from within an album. If you were actively using the album tool to record a story, the story will still exist in the form of the webentry XML file identified with the alphanumeric string that identifies that household. The webentry file can be opened in any program capable of reading XML documents, including a web browser, though you may not be able to see the pictures except as strings of codes, blank image files, or whatever, depending on which program you use and whether it's set up to run off and fetch the photos so you can see them, or not.

When I merge households, or want to refer to what occurred in one household in the story for another, I often open the relevant webentry file in my browser window so I can copy/paste text after I've waded through the album for the picture I need. The program makes a new copy of the picture, renamed with the appropriate alphanumeric, when you select the thumbnail and place it in the new story, so you'll then have two (or more; since I'm also moving pictures into the neighborhood story) copies of that picture.

ETA: Oh, yes, and which household story you get works exactly the same as which household name you get - when Cooper Hawkins moved from home into the trailer park and married Ginger Newson, she got his last name; then they both moved back into the Newson household, which remained the Newson household, with all its pictures, and I only had to copy over the pictures taken during the 24-hour period Cooper lived in the trailer park. I can now change the name of the Newson household in SimPE if I wish, but I know of no method to switch which album you get. Presumably if I renamed pictures with the alphanumeric of a different household, they'd show up in that album, but I haven't tried it and would rather not! A lot of my decisions about who moves in with who are based on who's got the biggest album.

Shoot! I totally forgot about the + sign (all-households tab that shows pics from all households)!

Hiya :)

Thanks everyone! I just wondered because I was thinking of maybe moving one of my families, and although it's kind of unlikely the last sim in a house would die (I like big households, often sims unrelated to each other), I just started wondering about that too.

Peni Griffin-Actually when I deleted and re-started my neighbourhood due to corruption, I copied my photos and re-named them to attach them to the right houses in the new neighbourhood. Someone on here advised me how to do it. It does work, it just takes a long time if there are a lot of photos, as you have to do the photo and the thumbnail for them to show up.

Some of my houses have photos of sims who have since moved out, but I can't remember if that was me re-naming them or not. Probably. I kind of like the idea of the house having a record of who has lived there.

The house itself doesn't matter to the webentry file (though it will record for posterity the location where you took the first shot, but only if you look at it in code view), only the household. If you maintain the same household in the same house, then it will record the comings and goings of individuals.

Thanks, I usually don't move the whole family, just individual sims eg.when teens grow up. Thanks for explaining :)

Annoyingly, this makes the game make a duplicate of the picture in the Snapshots folder of the neighbourhood. File bloat - EAxis loves it.

I've downloaded the Storybook Viewer (http://www.modthesims.info/d/60033) by roachandlazygirl. It allows you to view your snapshots as they are in-game even after the family is dead and gone.

Thankyou that looks interesting!
