View Full Version : What on earth did I press down?

This is not really a technical question, I guess, so it's here. For the first time throughout all my TS2 game life, I pressed down something I shouldn't. So now when I load any lot, for some reason the view is very close to the ground, parallel to it, and I can't zoom out (or zoom in, for that matter)! No camera hacks... Yet the game isn't playable anymore. This happened after I pressed something on the left side of the keyboard, but I can't figure out what, so I can't unpress it. :faceslap:

You can share your own stories of stupidity, but I hope somebody will help me, too :)

Ouch. :( I've never heard of that happening to anyone. Maybe you'll have to reinstall your game; you can backup your neighborhood files beforehand and see if that helps. Bump (sorry I couldn't be of more help).

I'm definitely not an expert, but could it have been the TAB key? That's the only one I can think of that changes the camera angle. I don't think it would affect the zoom though, so I'm not sure. I hope that someone can help you or you figure it out! :-)

I suppose if all else fails you could always try pushing all the keyboard buttons in turn and seeing if any of them fix it, but I wouldn't recommend it as it could well do more harm than good!

I was just gonna say the TAB key. I have my game open and when you hit TAB it limits your movement and you can only move up and down. I did that last week too but thankfully I remembered what I had hit.

As laura said, its probably the TAB key, so press it, move your mouse around to an appropriate position so the angle of the camera changes and see whether it works or not. If you don't want to use the TAB key (which can be really annoying), Ctrl+right click and move the mouse around to change the angle.

When I'm in Tab mode, I move the mouse upward (you can't see the cursor, but it moves) to the top of the screen and the angle goes upward and the zoom goes outward. Then I hit tab again, get the HUD back, click the active sim's portrait to center him, and hit the + sign to zoom. I'm usually looking more or less straight at at the adult sim head height at that point.

Maybe you'll have to reinstall your game;

Please don't ever make that recommendation to another player unless you know for sure that's the solution the problem requires. Reinstalling is something one should only do after all other possible solutions have been thoroughly exhausted.

There's also the view that people usually press before using TAB mode when taking pictures of houses and things, or at least I do. I can't remember what it's called, but it makes placing ceiling tiles easier. That certainly has limited zooming function.

Did you press the 'install a ceiling button'? It came with AL or FT and fixes you in a position looking up so you can paint the ceilings that came with whichever EP it was. It's a sort of arrow pointing up to a square on the HUD.

Thanx for your replies. It was not TAB, maybe it was a ceiling button. I just know that next time I loaded a lot only Build\Buy mode was glitched like that, and next time I loaded the game the glitch was thankfully gone.

I guess it was a ceiling button, because I definitely tried pressing TAB.

I know I press the top down view a lot on accident, could it have been that?
