View Full Version : The matchmaker set up my adult male sim with a teenager!

So I started playing the Ottomas family recently and since I know of the glitch that can happen with the babies that the wife is pregnant with, I killed the wife off immediately. The family has potential to be interesting so I decided to have the matchmaker get Peter a new wife. So he buys the love potion and spends $5000 on a date. A girl drops from the sky and immediately I start to think, "I didn't know that outfit is for adult women too." But I went on with it and sent the two of them downtown for their date. When they got downtown I immediately saw that he had no romantic interactions available for his date. Plus standing next to her, he's taller. The stupid matchmaker set up Peter with a teenager!

Lmao "Funny" that good for nothing "Gypsy Matchmaker" have always been a "Con" artist she take the Sims money and give them a mate that is unwanted. Not only did she sent your Sims Peter's a teenager.
Look like she was trying to also send him to "Jail" for being with an under age Sims where Mrs. Crumplebottom is the judge in the Sims court, where for sure she will give him a "Life Time Sentence."

So long as you have the Season patch on there is no glitch with Samantha Ottomas and if you're unpatched I think you will have more problems than killing her off will solve. As for the teenager, sounds like you have a hack that enables that. Otherwise yeah as I said your game sounds to be in trouble.

That happens to me quite often, but I was under the impression that it would only happen if you have ACR or some other hack that allows adult/teen romantic interaction. But maybe I'm wrong about that...
In any case, I don't use the gypsy, but I do like doing the "instant blind dates" via networking that AL added, which I'm thinking uses the same programming or whatever as that which is used for matchmaker dates. Twice in a row, with different adult female Sims, they ended up with dates with David Ottomas. I actually thought it was funny as hell...but I'm weird like that. Plus, I like some age disparity in relationships in my game. Which is a good thing because another adult female of mine got a blind date with the repair guy, who's an Elder. Oddly enough, they ended up getting married and having a couple of kids before he died...

ACR and Inteen do it. Reasons number five and six (or is it nine and ten?) why I don't use the matchmaker for dates without saving first.

I have ACR and not InTeen, and I have experienced this too. I think itīs because ACR enables attractions and causal romantic interactions between teens and adults. So I think itīs normal that this sometimes happens if you have ACR and/or InTeen in your game. It kind of sucks when it happens though, since the sims wont roll any romantic wants with only ACR in your game (but perhaps Inteen enables romantic wants between adults and teens?). I remember it happend to me once when I played a female Maxis-made sim. The matchmaker gave her a teenaged boy, and despite making out and having their first woohoo (via ACR of course), the date didnīt go well, since they didnīt roll any romantic wants at all for eachother. After I fulfilled their "play with..." wants they actually started to roll job/school related wants and it seemed they totally didnīt care for eachother.

A much cheaper (and more controlled option) is to download the find a mate crystal ball. At the cost of $1000 simoleons and the ability to choose gender, relationship and ages it's a much more cost effective version of the matchmaker. Well at least I find it brilliant when wanting a relationship with 2 or more bolts of attraction.

One time, my teenage girl sim wanted a date, so she contacted the matchmaker, and she set her up with a gay dormie.
So, yeah.

Absolutely. Once, long ago, I thought that the Gypsy might actually be a useful NPC. But 10,000 simoleons and a gay match later I changed my mind. Banned!

I only use her if my Pleasure whores need fifty first dates. She's useless if you want to find a meaningful relationship for your sim

What is the point of allowing an adult and teenager to be 'romantically' involved if they can't interact with each other romantically?
It sounds to me like this is not a hack issue; unless the hack was poorly written, as in pointless.

Yeah there's no teen/adult relationship hack involved at all. I don't have ACR or InTeen, so this was just a glitch or something. The neighborhood is fairly new and fresh, just started it up about 3-4 months ago; so I hope it's not going bonkers so soon. Maybe it's just the gypsy matchmaker is just crazy or something.

I believe ACR by itself enables adult teen dates. Because I don't have ACR I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't use its name. But I see others have said it does.
It just seems a strange sort of glitch to get without a hack or corruption.

ACR is an excellent hack, created by a talented, highly-respected modder, TwoJeffs.
The Gypsy, on the other hand, has never worked correctly. Dates chosen are apparently completely random, regardless of how much money she's paid.
I don't know whether it's usual for her to set an adult up with a teen, but I wouldn't worry about it, if the 'hood is free of the best-known signs of corruption.
Someone mentioned TwoJeff's Find-A-Mate Crystal Ball, which is a great alternative to the Gypsy. I like the Gypsy and rather miss interacting with her, but if I need to find a good match for a sim, the crystal ball is SOOO much better. You can customize the parameters in several ways, and once set, it finds the top five matches in the neighborhood, and will teleport your choice in for a date immediately. I love it!

My adult male sim wanted a wife, so I called over the gyspy matchmaker and payed the full $5000. Suddenly, a woman dropped out of the sky... But she was an elder. My sim had three lightning bolts and everything even though grey hair was his turn-off. I tried three more times and they were all elders!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never used her, as I really like relationships to develop naturally; and honestly, it sounds like you'd be better off using the teleporter cat, scanning the households, and hooking in someone you think your sim would have fun with.

Lol how true! Only I have had sims 2 since it came out and used the matchmaker quite a lot. I've done at least two rounds of 50 first dates with her, not to mention countless single dates and never had a teen drop.
I don't think the gypsy cares about age (as in elder age) or orientation she just wants your moolah.
I just downloaded the crystal ball, I can't wait to try it out. :)
What about the wishing well? Does that normally pick better mates?

The wishing well enjoys picking the same partners quite often.
In one hood it happened so that the wishing well "blessed" my teenage quads with two guys, several times.
First I made the youngest son wish for a man, then the daughter and then the oldest son. The third son got himself a vampire bride.
Anyhow, it happened that the oldest son received his brother's boyfriend and they became enemies for life :D
Then the heartbroken youngest son went to the wishing well again and his sister's boyfriend climbed out. However the sister is pretty cool and just dumped her boyfriend so her younger brother could have him.
Fun times, fun times.

Esh that's stupid. Maybe it's happens when they don't have a permanent relationship like going steady or engaged? Although my game also tries to set up my married sims with blind dates via social networking. Happily married sims, even with 3 bolts; which makes no sense at all. Maybe it's all just mucked up.

Nope, they went steady immediately.
Now I only use the crystal ball that was already mentioned. It's much more effective and waaaay cheaper

Why don't you just age the teenager into an adult and go from there.

Couldn't agree more! It has certainly brought life back into my game (and by life, I mean babies).
Of course there are often those that don't bother to read the manual, so immediately assume the mod is a big fat failure.

I've had an instance where the gypsy set up one of my teens with an elder and I don't have ACR, Inteen, or any other mods where teen-adult or teen-elder is enabled. It would've been funnier if she got set up with Mrs. C!
