I just got a somewhat old laptop(VistaFTW) and decided to install Sims 2 on it. I played with just the base game and decided to play the Smith household, to see the original grow-up cutscene. It was quite awesome, and Johnny threw a party that ended up being a good time. I guess making-out with Ophelia before he grew up helped.

So, do you like the original or Uni transitions better? Me, I do like both, but I like giving all my sims an education. Will hafta see what a plantsim birthday cutscene is like.

Yup. It was so cool watching Johnny transition to adulthood, and realizing how much of the original adult-theme is in the graduation cutscene.

Since I don't send all my teen Sims to Uni, I still see the teen to adult transition cut scene quite a bit. I usually throw a party for that one since it's the first party the Sim can invite their own friends to. I like the male transition, but I've never liked the female. They make this horrible "sexy" duck face which makes even the most attractive Sims look very strange.

Ah cool! Do you have the no memory uneducated mod? 'Cause it can be good for those who want to send their sims to community colleges. Might see if I can make Ophelia throw a party, since I don't think I added a university subhood to Strangetown yet. Anyway though, it feels good to be able to throw parties that don't suck. Also noticed how the music makes a nice gradual transition. I saw a video of the different age-transition cutscenes on youtube before, but I can't find it now. Was pretty cool.

Johnny transitioned to an adult before I got Uni, so I saw the cutscene and everyone was happy. Ophelia wasn't so lucky: she transitioned right after I installed Uni... and promptly had a breakdown in the middle of her aunt's kitchen. The rampaging ghosts didn't help her mood any, either (but at least it wasn't her spectral parents popping up out of the furniture to wish her a happy birthday).

It was a couple of years ago, though, so I don't remember the cutscenes terribly well :(

Thanks for asking since it made me go and do some research. My Sims keep retaining the "Be Uneducated" fear into adulthood. Turns out there's two versions of the no "Be Uneducated" memory mod and one isn't compatible with Apartment Life, which may be my problem.

I remember the first time I played the sims 2 on a computer good enough to see all the cut scenes, I wondered what was going on at first.
