**Edit** I seemed to have gotten the game running by dumb luck. I reinstalled all the games and decided to try it from the University Collection disk and it worked without crashing. I haven't created any families or houses yet but it all seems to work without protest this time. Not sure why it was putting up a fight earlier but my computer put up no protest integrated video wise. Feel free to delete this topic if possible.**
Hi, I used to play Sims 2 a couple years back on my gaming laptop that died this year due to a faulty motherboard and I don't have the funds to replace the part nor buy a new computer. I wanted to to upload Sims 2 and the expansions onto my basic laptop computer I use for college use. It doesn't have a fancy graphics card but I took a gamble anyway because this computer was built in Dec. 2010.
I have Double Deluxe, University, Open for Business, and Pets. I loaded the Double Deluxe and the 3 expansions to it and was able to see the opening video of the Sims goofing around before the game loading screens only if I ran it through the Pets CD. There was no glitching or lagging and my laptop put up no protest at loading screen, the game freezes and I get the application has failed notice. So the problems I am now facing is:
-Uninstalled every Sims 2 expansion and main game and reinstalled only Double Deluxe and added nothing new to it to see if the problem I had before came from something I messed up on the other expansion installations.
-Clicked on the Sims 2 application icon to run Sims 2 Launcher and click Play. When I click Play, nothing happens. It doesn't even attempt to start.
Before I go any further, I wanted to ask for help here because I don't want to put a lot of effort into trying to fix the game when the trouble may be because of my computer simply not supporting it. I included my computer specs through DxDiag and included the txt. file if all the details were needed. Is this issue because of my computer unable to support it or something more simple? I know thousands of people had this problem before but looking through their problems, every one of them is different with different reasons for their errors. I'm thinking it may be my laptop but I'm hoping it isn't because I cannot afford a gaming computer at this time and I want to play my Sims 2 again.
If anyone can help me or tell me what the issue may be, I'll greatly appreciate it. I'm giving all this information so time won't be wasted so the person who can help would have the details I only know up front.
Thanks!
