I'll start out by admitting I am brand new to CAW and not at all Tech-Savvy. I followed these instructions and am so confused:

http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:CAW_Framework

Let me explain what I did/didn't do so perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.

Step 1: I copied and pasted that little "Priority 501" section to the end of the Resource file that I found in my CAW folder. Put the original non-altered Resource in a different location, leaving the newly-altered Resource file in the CAW folder where the old one had been.

Step 2 (a): Created my Packages folder in my CAW folder.

Step 2 (b): I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to set up the symbolic link on Windows 7. Would it be possible for someone to take a picture of what the format of all that gibberish in the Command Prompt window is supposed to look like? I got an error message that said "Parameter format not correct - 'D' [CAW Program Folder]\Packages'".

Then I also attempted this tutorial and could feel my brain starting to melt:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=453818

I already have S3Pe downloaded but I am not at all familiar with how it works. I don't know what OBJD is, or even how to open my files using S3Pe. I found the location where my packages are supposed to be (They're in DDS file format - does this make a difference?), but the files weren't there when trying to find them through S3Pe.

Could someone please explain in simple terms what I'm supposed to do, ideally with pictures if it's not too much to ask? I've searched for alternate tutorials but they all assume the user is more on the Techie side, and all say the same thing.

Thanks in advance for you help!

kute, please note that the tutorial states:
"You may choose between these two methods to create Packages folder for CAW. "

So, just edit your Resource.cfg and make a packages folder, and that should be sufficient. Making the symbolic link is optional. I've edited the text slightly to make it clearer- I hope it helps!

For the second problem, the OBJD is a resource in the game files (or the package file of an object) that contains information about how that object appears in the game catalog. Try cloning the object in S3OC as mentioned by Whiterider here:
http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=445779
To help you find the OBJD for your item.

If you have any more problems with that, please post here:
