Hello there. I came here with a problem. A long time ago I installed Apartment Life with a CD. It went great, I downloaded clothes and stuff just for fun. But then I decided that I want to make sims 2 movies so I downloaded Nightlife too. I found lots of clothes, poses and furniture for my sims movies. But one day (like a week ago) I pressed to play Sims 2, everything loaded as it usually does but when i made new sims family, put it in their new house and started furnishing it the game freezed. I couldn't press anything. The game was freezed and it showed small red spots. Like a lag. I couldn't do anything so I restarted my computer. And now anytime I start to play sims at first everything is okay but after like two or five minutes it freezes just like that.

I don't know a lot about computers but I will try to understand everything, because I am kind of freaked out. Im thinking of that it is something to do with the stuff I downloaded but it can't be it. Please help.

P.S. Just so you know I searched it google and there were some solutions and I tried to follow the instructions but they didn't change a thing. I even looked it up in modthesims but i couldn't find anything

Have you tried taking your downloads out? I know that for me, the more downloads I have, the slower it loads (logic), also when playing large lots.

It might also be a content problem. Perhaps you downloaded something that didn't play nicely with Nightlife. In my experience, most of the lagging/freezing issues have been content related. It also could be a corrupt lot or even a hardware issue. My experiences with misbehaving Sims games usually involves content, though.

Did the game behave BEFORE you put in the Nightlife content? That could be a clue.

This is probably an issue for the Help section. There are, unfortunately, a few reasons why Sims games go wonky. Do the steps MTS requires before you post in Help first. People will probably insist you do it, anyway. Many of us have had to do the 50/50 method at one point in our Simming experience. I've had to do it quite a few times. :)

It started after I downloaded all the stuff. Should I delete it all at once?

Make a backup for your files and store it on your desktop as a shortcut. Then delete your CC and start the game. If it doesn't freeze then it's most likely a bug/badCC that you've downloaded. And then it's time to go through the loooong process of organizing your CC...

And by "delete" here we mean "move the Downloads folder somewhere safe." If the problem goes away without the Downloads present, you know the problem's in the downloads and you can replace and test it a little at a time (the Game Help FAQ, which you really do need to consult, will describe a procedure that shouldn't take too long) until you find the culprit(s). If the problem remains, you know it's something else. Probably your system. Which, guess what, you can find out about in Game Help, too!

I know this site gives you information overload, and is hard to navigate at first, but that bar across the top of your screen (Home News Help Create Downloads etc.)is a big help.

These tips not only stopped my crashing, but lessened my lag as well.

But yeah, I agree with the others overall.

You should perhaps reinstall all your games, copy the Sims folder from your My Documents, and place it on your desktop. After you install, replace the Sims folder with the one already on your desktop. This way you will still retain your family and all your sims without having to start all over again.

This does belong in the help forum, no doubt. Reinstalling one's game is only a last resort option. It seldom fixes anything, and their are numerous things to attempt before even contemplating it.
