None of my cc that I've loaded is showing up in my game. I've unzipped the files using winrar, put them in the Downloads file and turned on the "enable custom content" button multiple times. I have all of the required meshes and expansions packs for the cc that I have downloaded. Still, nothing works. I'm currently keeping my sims 2 double deluxe game on a USB and I was wondering if my problem has anything to do with that. My only other expansion pack is apartment life. If anyone can help give me some ideas to help fix the problem I would be very greatful. Thanks

IIRC, Double Deluxe creates several different "The Sims 2 <X>" subfolders in the Documents\EA Games folder. If you added your CC to "The Sims 2\Downloads" and it doesn't work, you might want to try adding the CC to the Downloads folder in one of the other "The Sims 2 <X" folders.

Otherwise, try these:

I tried that and I read both of those articles and nothing seems to be working

Then please explain exactly what you're doing. Tell us every single step so that we can examine your method and try to find the problem. Specifically, give us the full path to the Downloads folder that you're using (blank out any personal information), and tell us all of the "The Sims 2 <x>" folders that exist in your Documents\EA Games folder. Be sure to mention which folders are on the USB stick. It also wouldn't hurt to take a couple of snapshots of your folders.

Since you've been working on this for a while, I assume that you exited the game at least once after turning on CC. That's a common problem; the game requires you to exit and re-run.

One thing that I'm confused about. How did you get your Documents folder to work on a USB stick? I would think that Windows would complain the minute that the USB stick disappears. Are you absolutely sure that the game is using the files on your USB stick? Can you see your neighborhood files change as you play the game?

ok I figured out what happened. When you said that the game may not be reading the information from the USB, that made me think a bit. After a bit of trail and error, I figured out that only half of my game was loaded on the USB and the other half was loaded on the local disk drive (drive C: ). The downloads folder wasn't working because I was putting it in the wrong spot. I'm reloading my game and making sure everything loads in the right spot. I'll tell you how it goes. Thanks so much for your help!!

ok so I've learned that you can keep most of your sims files on a USB but you have to keep some files on your C: drive. You have to keep your downloads here as well, not on the USB. I put my downloads into
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims™ 2 Double Deluxe\Downloads
and this has worked for me.
