View Full Version : .package 0x files merging

Hi, so i recently decided to merge my package files to be more organized and to quicken my game so i firstly used the Multi-Extractor tool to convert my sims3pack files to .package in order to merge them.
After sorting through over 3,000 worth of files and grouping them up to merge, i came across about 600 files of the "0x" files. I know about 200 of them are from Worlds i accidentally converted but where do the rest of these "0x" files come from?

My question is, in order for the associated content with these "0x" files to work, do i need to merge these unnamed files as well and put them in my game? Or are they not important?

Sorry if my explanation doesn't make sense.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not really sure if I get your explanation, but I think you mean why there are so many and what they're from, right?

All package files have more contents than just an XML or something. They have many contents that include 0x files. Keep all of the files marked 0x except the XML files that have the instance 0x00000000000000. Delete them.

I don't know exactly if this was the type of answer you were looking for, but other than that, keep the other files.

Thanks for the answer!
I'm just not sure whether I need to keep them or not, if so do i merge them?
I think you are talking about in s3pe, not the actual file after extracting the package from the sims3pack.

If someone knows, do i need to keep these files for other certain custom content to work?

Oh so are you talking about when you convert the sims3pack to a package file and it's named 0x something something? Then ignore my first post xDD (Yeah, I was talking about s3pe)
Now I THINK I have a better understanding:

I'm pretty sure they're named after the instances of one of the containing files (of the .package) when they're converted. But you can just rename the package file and it won't do any harm.
You can merge all files 0xetc. together without any problem. I made a whole merged file of the 0x-instance-package-files called "random-letters-numbers".

They're pretty much exactly like normal .package files. If it really bothers you being called "0x etc." then just rename.

It doesn't matter how you decide to keep the converted files. They are really flexible like normal .package files.

I don't know what you mean by "other custom content files to work" though

Anyway, hope it helps!! If it doesn't then I'll have to re-read. I can't seem to understand things at times!! D:

When a .sims3pack contains only a single .package file, the extracted .package file will be named the same as the sims3pack. When a .sims3pack contains multiple .package files, the extracted .package files will have 0x names.
