View Full Version : Is there a way to rename a pie menu text in SimPE?

I'd like to change the name of "view" to "critique" for paintings.I'd prefer not to mess with the BHAVs, only BCONs or pie menu strings if possible.

Edit the TTAs resource for the object. You need to decide if you want people in all the other languages to see your new string or stick to their original French/Spanish etc. If you only want it to change for English-speaking people, then edit each English language string. If you want to change it worldwide, copy the string to all.
Normally I would say just delete the other languages and make the edit in Default (US English) but if there are still a lot of other options that you're not going to edit, it's probably easier just to copy. There is a button for this, you don't have to copy manually to each language. If you're not sure which button does what, there is Help in Simpe that explains it.

Actually, there's a button for deleting all the other languages for just a single string, causing them to all use the default because they have none. This will save a LOT of space compared to duplicating the string 40 times. Also, it helps to immediately nuke the EN_UK strings, as they are either identical to the "default" EN_US strings, or are damaged in some way (several bugs pertain to this behavior), and nuking them will save you more space. And RAMs. Unless you actually want to go through and properly re-British them, there's no point in having a duplicate set of strings.

well I would probably only use for personal use, but if I ever decide to upload, I will use your suggestions here.

Oh I have an important question, should I only include the edited TTAs in my downloads folder, or do I have to include anything else.Usually when I make a mod, I don't include everything.So just wondering.

Should work fine if you just package the edited TTAs resource.
