Hi :)
Long time ago I noticed that when I import textures in TXTR files, choose the DXT1 format and save, the texture become blurry. So I use to choose the Raw24Bit format. But the package may be heavy.
I noticed too that Maxis's textures, which are not blurry, are in DXT1 format.
So, this is my question : does it exist a way to save textures in the DXT1 format whithout the textures become blurry ?
Jim.

Hi Jim, i am no expert on this, but have you seen this infocenter article?

It is all about TXTR formats and increasing the size of the mipmap. I think that the problem you are encountering is once you have rebuilt the mipmap you then need to repeat the process using Build DXT; that will give you a crisper result and you don't need to update all sizes.
I hope that this is of help.

Well, in fact, instead of Import my texture in the TXTR file, I have to use "Build DXT..." : the texture, in the DXT1 format, become much more better than using "Import...", even if I see a little pixelisation.
Thank you leesester ^^.

Built Dxt gives better result than import, for sure. Don't updated all sizes when using Build DXT, you'll ruin the benefits.
If your texture have transparent part Dxt3 is needed.
Sometimes, for detailed texture, even if not transparent, Dxt3 is advisable.
Also when building, the sharpen option is set to "smooth" as default but "none" can make a difference.
The higher the dxt, the heavier the file, it might be a good idea to compress the textures via the resource tab in SimpE. This won't degrade your texture but can significantly decrease the file size.
