Hey, I'm new on the forum, but I would like to propose a challenge that will require thought, taste and knowledge of the Sims environment to realize.

Let's face it, building a square of walls is not hard. It is carefully choosing and efficiently allocating rooms and filling them up with useful and essential objects from the Buy Mode that will make the difference between a happy Sim and a depressed one.

So, here is the challenge:

Design the SMALLEST possible house, fully furnished, keeping in mind all the Sim's needs & requirements (including environment).

Rules:

Smallest possible lot size (obviously :) )

It must be able to support your Sim with no cheats for a full Sim week. (just as a reference, you don't need to try)

As you make it, ask yourself if you would ever live in a house like this. Your answer should be YES. This means no bed next to the fridge/microwave (loud noise at night + dangerous), no toilet next to the stove (privacy), etc.

budget available = UNLIMITED... :deal:

The rest is up to you.

Remember, it doesn't have to be amazing aesthetically, it just needs to be EFFICIENT in space allocation. However, if you manage to make it pleasing, thats a big bonus!

Sure, mansions are beautiful, but tiny is art too! :bunny:

Good luck, and post a pic here when you are done!

Is custom content allowed? I'm assuming not, as there are quite a few cheap items out there that have higher environment scores than similarly priced maxis stuff, but I thought I'd check anyway.

EDIT

It just occurred to me that maybe the challenge involves searching around for the abovementioned CC.

Either way, my question still stands :)

Hey, well, yes. Use all the CC you need! It's not about getting maximum motives, its about getting a sim by with the tiniest possible home while at the same time trying to make it decent (or beautiful if you can) :) Hope you will try this, it's quite harder than it sounds! (but fun).

I will post mine soon!

Ok great, that helps :) I've been trying to do it without, and it's very difficult! I reckon with $10000 it could be done quite well without CC.

Maybe have 2 challenges, one at $5000 with CC, and one at $10000 with no CC?

This is interesting, I'll wait for your houses and maybe will use them in my game. I have a weakness for small houses ;) Like 12 Oak Street in Pleasantview, a really small house, my sim had to sleep outside in a hammock, I loved it.

Actually, I will remove the budget. Let your creativity take you away. But remember, think small!

I liked the girl I had living there. Until she caught on fire and died o.O And not like, a house fire. She literally BURST INTO FLAMES xD

Hmmm...small house but just enough to hold skill-building objects...telescope and easel can go outside for Logic and Creativity, of course....

I might give this a shot.

For body, I ended up building a pool outside. My chick needed Creativity so I gave her a easel (I replaced the TV with the one that hangs on the wall but takes up one square, and then put the easel where the chair is :P).

I'm going to give this a try. Veronaville is my "experiment" neighborhood.

Okay...I built a hovel on the "Mediterranean" side of Veronaville.

Think it's small enough?

BTW I typically play with walls cut away--just the perimeter walls are up.

Oh--and are cars allowed? My Pleasure Sim, who lives there (she's a party DJ) has expressed a desire to buy a car....

Update: She just got married to Shea Johnston, a townie...and she got a nice 75,000 Simoleon bonus...so she's outta there! :p

So the stuff in it does not have to be cheap? It is just the smallest possible house?

I had no idea this was such an unusual thing to do. My Sims always start out with tiny houses!

Okay, here is my little house. Can your sims use the stove? I thought that a stove required at least one counter.

I need to do this!! With TS1 I used to do it all the time. My brother said the average Japanese bachelor would find my houses cramped.

I've done this a few times xD I always get frustrated because the stuff in the house is crappy then they have kids and there's not enough bedrooms for them :L

Okay, here we go! Allie and Chyna Lovell have moved into the Sparrownest Apartments, and fell in love with the "Pinkie Pie" unit. It's the smallest apartment they could find for two people and costs $802 a week.

Floor plan:
Kitchen 3x3 + den 4x3 + bedroom 4x4 + bathroom 2x3 = a total of 43 squares.
