View Full Version : Pose as object

I wasn't sure which section to put this in as it's a bit of body meshing and object meshing both, but I hope this is okay.

Using Milkshape. I want to make a statue out of a sim. I have my body mesh made and I go into animation mode to rotate the joints since this seems the sensible way of posing the mesh. Moving faces and vertices the normal way it's very very hard to make a realisitc pose. So when I'm done, the mesh is posed the way I want it, how do I make it into an object retaining the pose? Going out of animode makes it snap back to standing arms out.

For short, is there a way to sort of "apply" the pose (animation) to the mesh and then export it as an obj file?

(It's not really an animation, of course, it's just a pose made in animode, in case I was unclear)

Thank you!

HAH! i just found this trick last month. With your keyframer in view, click "anim" to enter animate mode (those well versed in milkshape should know this). Next get the pose you want and deselect everything. Then, while still in animate mode, use the extended manual edit and even though its not listing any active verts, just hit OK. the skeleton will snap back to the default T pose, but your model will be in your pose. Just jump out of animate mode, rinse and repeat.
