View Full Version : All The Single Ladies - A Tiny House Project

I've decided to take on a challenge. One that involves no CC and teeny-tiny lots.
I completed one house, and would like your feedback.
These houses are made for a single lady (or man), and there is absolutely no room to expand. (Hey, it's the truth.) This one is built on a 1x1 lot. All of these lots will be built on either a 1x1 lot, or a 1x2 lot. They have minimal furniture and decorations, since I suck at decorating with just maxis stuff. Each of the houses will have good curb appeal, meaning that they all will have street lights and will have flowers and trees.
Here's my first house, if you have any suggestions to improve, please let me know.

If you would like any extra shots, just let me know. [:
Note that the lot is EXTREMELY small, making it have not too many varieties when coming to house design.

Nice idea. I made a list of things I found that might need work
- where is the sim gonna shower? Also where are they gonna be washing their hands and doing the dishes ? You should seriously change the upstairs to fit a formal bathroom in .
- kitchen space . You can move the kitchen to the back and add a few more counters.
- walk way to the car. Remove two flowers and replace the mailbox in one of the empty plots as the mailbox is where the sim does all the actions and stuff and it being blocked by that one wall and the column will cause problems for downloaders
- full on fencing . I dont know about you, but If i want fencing I want it all around my property. also , the right side isnt placed right.
Also , you are quite wrong about your last sentence. You can design a nifty home on a small lot , albeit it is quite hard to do , it is not impossible .

-Levini: Thank you, so much for your input! How did I miss the shower? > .< I'll make those adjustments and get up some more pictures! :D

What do you think? I added an extra counter, and put a dish washer in.
I also tinkered with upstairs.

I like it! It would make a sweet bachlor (or bachlorette) pad, and would be great for a starter house. One thing I would add is a hot tub, though that's just me, all my sims need hot tubs. (I wouldn't actually add that if I were you, however, it wouldn't fit the theme.) I actually suggest some sort of terrain paint, maybe some dirt holes in the lawn to fit the theme. However, it looks great.

The roof is functional, but it just seems off. Maybe try a hipped roof?
Some terrain paints would be good, a little dirt or gravel path from the door to the sidewalk and a splash of color.

-JadedSidhe: The top one, or the bottom? I assume you mean the top roof, but I'm just clarifying. [ : And you're right, I should add some color by using a bit more terrain paint, thanks!

Have you got AL? if yes you could/should use the spiral staircase so you've got more space in the living area, because it'll really need a TV at least because I can't find anything else for the sims' amusement.

I like the house, it's cute. But the layout seems awkward and cramped. If you don't have AL for the spiral stairs, maybe moving the stairs to a corner? This would open up the floorplan more.
It also needs something for terrain/flooring in front of the door. :)

Hmm, I don't have AL. But would those stairs by marvine work?
( If you don't know what they are, you should seriously check them out! - http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=249237 )
I could make an exception on the NO CC. [;

1 piece of CC is no problem, right? It's for good purposes ;)

But what about woohoo!!! :faceslap: If theres no tv, they need something else to do! Especially if they bringing a prospective hot date home after a night on the town!! If you put in the smaller staircase you may be able to fit a double bed for some 'rainy day fun' :heyhey:

Sorry it took so long to answer, I just got back home. I was thinking of both, but more the shed roof than the top one. You might or might not like the way a hipped roof looks, but it never hurts to give it a shot and see what you think.

Bravo! just one thing. When a SIM is going up the stairs, if at the same time another SIM is coming out the bathroom. Well, it won't be pretty, I'll tell you that.
