Maybe I'm not using the right one because "motherlode" works just fine. "bool prop testing cheats enabled [true]" is what everyone keeps suggesting but it dosen't work. What is the right one? I'm sorry if this has been posted before or is not in the right fourm, but I don't know where to post it.

"testingcheatsenabled true"

It's not like TS2.

There is a list of S3 codes here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Cheats

"bool prop" anything went out with S2...took a while to get used to that!

Thanks! This worked! Are there any cheat codes for skills and tallents? I only have the base game and the pets expansion pack. Are there any ways to cheat on animal skills such as hunting or show jumping? I want to download treeag's "Book of Talent" but I don't know how to download custom content and I find the instructions s/he posted to too complicated and confusing.

There are no cheats for those, you have to use mods. The instructions she linked to are pretty basic. Just follow them step by step and refer to the pics. If it doesn't work you've not done something correctly.

Twallan's Master Controller. (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController) That's all you need for that.

There's just too much to read. I have the patch and everything. Or at least I think I have the patch. Whenever I start my game, it keeps telling me I should download an update, is this the patch everyone is talking about? I only installed my games a few days ago and when I installed it. I also installed Pets. I don't plan on buying anymore expansion packs unless they come out with something like an African safari theme because these games are so expensive. I think my main question about downloading custom content is where am I supposed to put the files once I have the patch thingy everyone is talking about installed and everything?

Thanks, but it dosen't look like there is anything that can max out the skills of pets.

I wish the "babyboom" cheat still worked, I used to love forcing everyone in Sunset Valley with a toddler and child (plus it was great for when the neighborhood wasn't creating many babies) but it seems to only work with just base game installed now (and possibly a way lower patch?).

MasterController can max skills on both sims & animals, it just use a diffrent layout then bookoftalent.
Also maxing hunting on pets aren't that hard, just que it and it will be maxed in short time.

The Patch Downloader (http://www.modthesims.info/d/409829) will help you download the correct game patches for your region for the base game (and Pets, if that was before they stopped doing patches for expansion/stuff packs; I can't remember). There can be a dud patch here and there, but overall patches really fix up many bugs and little errors that can screw up your game; and many CC support only the highest patches. So you really should patch.

What folder do I put the patch in?
1: Just follow this guide (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files) but basicly you need a folder called "Mods" in The Sims 3 which is in your documents (where that is depends on your OS) in the mods folder there need to a folder called "Packages" and a file called Resources.cfg, though the framework setup you get from the guide does the setup for you, so you just put all your "mods" in the package folder (you have to unpack them as game can't read them otherwise it only read files with .package extension).
2: It doesn't matter where you save the patches they're executable files, you just save them and then double click on them and they will patch the approriate EP/ST, also patchdownloader have a auto install feature, no idea how well that work, i have never used it.

I don't seem to have a folder called "Mods"; but I do have one called "Collections". Do I make a new folder and call it "Mods" and move the "Collections" folder there?

The collection folder is something else, it holds the information about collections in buy mode, so don't touch that one
If you don't have a folder called Mods you can create one same with the Package one.
For the resource.cfg, just create a new text-file and name it Resources.cfg and make sure it have the extension .cfg not .txt. it needs to have atleast in it:
Priority 500
PackedFile Mods/DCCache/*.dbc
DirectoryFiles Mods/Files/... autoupdate
PackedFile Packages/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Packages/*/*/*/*/*/*.package
All the /*.package is so you can have sub-folders in the Package folder (for easier sorting), with what i quoted you can have atleast 5 subfolders = in Package you can have for example have a folder called Cloths (for Cloth mods) and in that you can have another called Pants and so on.

Again i say the file you can download from the guide link i posted earlier will create the all the neccesary folders/files you need.
You simply download that and extract it and move the folder it made to The Sims 3 one in documents.

Make a Mods folder in The Sims 3 Folder
Add the Resouce cfg file to the Mods folder
Make a Packages folder inside the Mods folder
Add package files to the Packages folder.

Or follow the instructions from the Wiki as previously linkede, and use the Resource cfg file from there.

http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

The Resource cfg should look like this one if you use the Wiki link:

Priority 501
DirectoryFiles Files/... autoupdate
Priority 1000
PackedFile Overrides/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Overrides/*/*/*/*.package

PackedFile Test/*.package
PackedFile Test/*/*.package
