Sims stop going to work / school - help?

This started happening to me in Showtime. Usually when they're quite close to the highest levels of their careers, or graduation - which makes it even more annoying. Quitting work won't help - if they get a new job the problem persists. It's a sim-specific problem, it doesn't necessarily affect the whole household.

Anyone have this? Solutions?

Resetting the rabbit hole usually works; if not, try resetting the Sim as well. In some of my cases the game corrected its ways by itself, always a day later; in others, I had to "rebuild" (delete and then replace) the rabbit hole; and at least once nothing helped.

I've encountered the problem before SHT but it has become much more common since.
