I read the posted tip, did that, it doesn't work.

Well, it does, meaning that I can bypass the launcher and open the game, but the game gives me a pop-up saying that there's no disk and please insert it to continue with two buttons: retry and quit. I'd post a screenshot, but I can't get it to run in window mode to take one. The pop-up is right in front of the choose family screen and comes up right when it's done loading.

The CD drive on my Mac doesn't work, so I CAN'T insert the disk--which I bought completely legally. I had to torrent it so I could actually get the game on my computer and put in the keycode, but I DO own a disk. I just can't actually use it with my Macbook.

Is there any way to get it to work?

Bypassing the Launcher does not mean you don't need the disc, you still need the disc to play. It just means that you don't start the game via Launcher, but instead directly via the TS3W executable (which the Launcher calls anyway). We cannot help with other means of playing without discs unless you bought the digital version as that would be against the EA TOS and MTS forum rules.

Has the warranty run out? If it is still under warranty, why not get it replaced?
The optical drives on MacBooks do get a bad reputation for constantly failing and needing replacements. My brother got tired of having to get it replaced all the time, he swapped the optical drive bay with an SSD.

If it's no longer under warranty, you could consider buying an external CD/DVD drive to plug into a USB port.
