Do you like it? What are some of the highlights you like? It reminds of the old Makin' Magic from the screenshots. Does it have any special functions like magic or is it more like a circus/trapeze/acrobatics vibe? Please tell!

It's pretty cute. To be honest, it doesn't have a lot of practical use, unless you make a park out of it or something. As far as I can tell nothing has a special function. The playground equipment functions like playground equipment, etc. Most of it is decorative.
I've been planning on making a community lot using it, but I don't think it would go well in most houses.

Hmmm....it is cute. I was kinda hoping to make a Makin' Magic type of area since I loved that EP. Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to brainstorm this some more. (I REALLY miss the roller coaster from MM.)

It might go really well with Supernatural and the addition of the Fortune Teller profession. You could use the items to build a lot around that, it would be cool. But I'd have to see the expansion for sure first.

Inspired by this thread I went and built a small park built around this set. I was nice. Then my game crashed before I could save it. Screw that,

I purchased it because I wanted the chocolate fountain :) Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate! :bunny:
And I might make an amusement park once Supernatural comes out. That would be a really nice tourist place which could have warevolves, witches, faries, zombies and the showtime magicians :jest:
Edit: Ohh and all the other store magic stuff, like the crystal ball, voodoo doll. Now I'm exited, have to search some carnival/Circus music

For what was in it, or rather what wasn't in it, I thought the price pretty steep. It had a lot of things, but they seemed to be mostly recolors.
It does seem to me as if EA is pushing a slow carnival at us. Showtime - photobooth, skee ball; Supernatural - whack-a-mole, grab-a-toy (perhaps not the official names), gypsy teller career and traveller's caravan; and now Seasons for starters has the kissing booth. Makes me wonder what's coming next!

I am building a circus type venue with the performance stage. Don't know what to categorize it, maybe Live Show?

I went back and finished it, but I don't think it's anywhere good enough to submit to MTS. They have high standards for their lots that I am often too lazy to meet =P.

I like a couple of the hairs that came with it. But I don't have alot of use for the build and buy objects. Although like someone said up top, when Supernatural comes out, I can see being able to make a pretty cool fortune teller lot. It's more of a builders pack to be honest.

I got it,it's really expensive but overall the the whole concept and items like the fondue fountain are really pretty cute. I have a bit of a warning though, do not and I repeat, do not let your Sim constantly eat the fondue or your sim will fat in no time!

morphius1, its a store set. (http://store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?scategoryId=11488&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:52725)
I'm thinking about getting it, that chocolate fountain is tempting and would be awesome for weddings and other formal parties :) I would love to do a creepy circus lot, but I don't have SHT, and it seems like it'd be incomplete without the entertainers.

I'm on the fence about getting it, some of it looks like it would do well for my Acrobat or Magician sims, but not so much for my other lots. Maybe when Supernatural comes out it'll have more appeal to me.

I got it and I like it. This set is like the epiphany of the whole store. Because "Wack is the new Black!" as the stylist of Appaloosa Plains keeps endlessly repeating:

You could always edit your .dbc files to not allow for random. I do that all the time after I install Store clothing.

Makes me wonder what's coming next! That's exactly what I was thinking this afternoon! I realized that it's like if EA had really a huge long-term plan of circus theme, spreaded in a ton of EPs and SPs. I mean: Showtime with the acrobat & the magician, a bit of circus deco, the mechanic bull and the ball toss game stand thing. Katy Perry's sweet crap which can be easily used in circus lots (I saw some user pics with that idea and it was awesome). Supernatural with the magic stuff and all the themed clothing and the 2 "fair" stands you listed. The store with the magic stuff and this circus set. Seasons and the food stands, the horseshoe throwing game, the themed tents, the apple gobbling, the haunted house RH, the face painting stand and the love tester machine! With ALL these EPS & SPs we'll be able to make amazing circus! And it won't be packed with just deco stuff but a gazillion of activities for our sims!
Lewis> if there's a stage, put it as Showtime venue. Otherwise, hangout will be perfect. Sims are drawn to hangout like flees!

Ya know, then when I saw all the food booths and face painting, I was even more convinced. Even the level 10 equestrian jumping through fire rings would not be out of place in the circus/carnival. Too bad the dogs can't do tricks.
Edit: Maybe when the entire series is done, we'll realize there was a method to the madness, after all...

I think it's more that that's just how things kinda work out rather than a deliberate overarching plan (to create an awesome circus or carnival is kind of a weird master plan, at that-- though if so, I approve!). Sims 1 had the same kind of circus fulfillment: obviously Makin' Magic was a big portion of it (why oh why no carnival rides even just a carousel omg--but I digress), but Vacation had the carnival game booths, various other packs brought new food carts and useful odds and ends, Unleashed had the fortune-teller NPC hanging around Old Town, Superstar had the sky-diving booth, and so on. I don't think TS2 had the same kind of thematic unity, but there are still objects scattered across packs that tie in together really well to help round out certain kinds of lots.
Although I must say, I've gone from having less than no interest in SHT to kinda-sorta-almost-really wanting it, in light of this store set and SPN and SEA. Damn your cunning, EA. :P

I am still trying to figure out which Showtime venue, Private or live show. Don't want to make a building, make it an open air venue. Now with Seasons coming, the new seasonal lot marker will make it easy to have open or building according to the seasons. I am still thinking how to work it out. Hope that is how it will work.
Just found out my niece wants a circus atmosphere too. She doesn't have Late Night nor Showtime because her mom don't want her to, reading this thread gave me an idea to use it for her pets. Maybe set up some riding tricks around the arena, and dog tricks on the stage. Thank you for the ideas.

Damn your cunning, EA. :PHm, IMO SHT just isn't good enough to buy it just for that. The only thing that prevents me from totally regretting that I got it is the Genie.
And there are some drawbacks with the Cirque set, too. First of all, the clothing items are set to random and enabled for almost every category, including sleepwear. And as career outfits they are only useful for your active family as you can't change the townies' career outfits (well, you can but they won't use it). And some of the objects are a bit weird, too. I can't, for example, connect three swings in a row. Well, I can and it makes a nice lokking new three-seats swing, but Sims cannot use it anymore then. Gives me route failures all the time.

The disadvantage of Private and Live Show venues are the closing times, you can't visit the lot at any time. On the other hand, closing times can be a good thing, too. I've noticed with the entertainment objects that came with late Night, for example, that they have high attraction but don't seem to time out. When I had a shuffleboard on a lot with no closing times I noticed one Sim who used it non-stop for three days and she had lost her job in the process. She's an unemployed shuffleboard pro now :wtf:
The lesson I learned from this is to use all venue entertainment objects sparingly on lots that don't kick Sims out after a while.
